Title: 505T Replacement
Post by: foxden61 on April 16, 2011, 08:36:38 AM
The 505T has been a great benchmark for me this season.  Its midlane read and consistent backend have been a life saver when I'm playing on sport or tougher conditions.  With the discontinution of all the 505 balls I'm looking  a little ahead for posible replacements.  Suggestions?  This is the only Track ball I've really liked in a long time (since the red Enforcers).  I have thought about a 715T but m a little worried about the bigger core not being as smooth.  I was also thinking a Gamebreaker, or possibly a Marvel.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

As others have mentioned a Gambreaker, for a much higher price ($129 vs $105 on Buddies) should also fit.
I don't see anything within Track's current balls of a similar nature.
(Wonder if a 4000 grit matte finish 715C would do the job?)

I threw a brawl on a burnt up usbc shot and it was pretty angular.  I guess it depends on one's speed and rev rate, etc.  The brawl was not drilled for sharp backends.

Pick up a Gamebreaker while you can. I'ts the benchmark or benchmark's!

For me the gamebreaker would be the best fit. It gives a great mid lane read and is very smooth on the back. The 715T is a stronger version of the 505T. It does have a little more pop on the end, but can be used just as much. So it would be your choice between the 715T and Gamebreaker. I would assume we are going to get a new core in the 5 series line this summer just like the 7 series line got a new core in the 718A.

I never have rolled a 505T but a team mate has one.  I use my 920T @ 2000ab and we can play the same trajectory.  920T also is arc like and smooth on the backend like the 505T.  I'd say they are very close in ball motion and strength.

I've thrown a demo ball of the 715T and it's very close to the 505T. The backend movement is a touch different between the two but I liked how it rolled.

+1 on the Favorite. Dollar for dollar this ball is a reliable benchmark. Will allow you to bowl on most sport/flatter patterns as well as the THS. You can't beat the performace of this ball at the price point. Very smooth and continuous off of the dry. Has decent recovery and minimizes shot mistakes from my experience. I have seen a few 505Ts thrown and the Favorite would be a very close fit to this area of your aresnal if you are looking to replace the 505T.

I have both the 715T and the 505T. Both with same drilling, The 715T is a stronger version, but it has to have oil. Otherwise mine burns up so fast in pretty much goes straight. The 505T is very versitle in either heavy oil or in light oil.

There are plenty of 505T and other 505s still available, I would just buy another one or two.

Be good, or be good at it.

IMO - the 715T is a bit smoother, but stronger.
My 505T had the same drilling as my 715T and it was to close to the 715
505t went 3-4' longer, but the backend was still strong.
I re-drilled it to pin up.
715t is a great ball
