607A first impressions
« on: January 11, 2011, 11:28:50 PM »
I drilled mine 5.5 pin from pap and mb is kicked 3 inches right of centerline of thumb with a large weight hole in the lower quad of the ball just to the right of the thumb. The ball came in with about a 4 inch pin.

This ball hooks hard as soon as it sees friction but if you dont have the clean back ends the ball squirts bad. Over all the ball hits very well and seems to carry decent but the ball being so angular the ball does seem to leave 9 pins and corner pins. Finally I have to say the ball dosnt handle close to the amount of oil as the 715A and also if there is any carry down might as well put this ball away unless you dont mind a inconsistant reaction. Well hope to hear opinions of others with this ball. I was alsoi thinking about knocking the shine off this ball to see if that improves the reactionand the ability to handle carrydown.

Take it to 4000 abralon and you will get less over/under and will handle carry down better.

I hit mine with 1000 and love it now. I was able to use it all 3 games with little adjusting.

Alot of the polish stuff does get hit with alot of polish. Alot of this is done with almost all the companys. This is becasue as you polish one ball the polishing machine doesnt self clean so the polish keeps building ball after ball and ect. This means that ball number 50 of a run is hit with a higher coat then ball number 1 and so on. This is why shops should gently hit the polished equipment with at least a white scotch brite pad to pull off some of the polish and let the cover see a little more friction. I do this for myself as well as all my customers. I normaly dont tell them so they dont think the ball is not oob.

Now with most balls 4000 abralon with polish is just not enough surface to cut through oil and carry down. Try 4000 abralon straight first. If that is good but the ball doesnt turn hard enough because of the dull surface take it to 2000 and then hit it with a light coat of polish. Use what ever polish you like that you find gives you the strongest responce to the friction. For me it is power house Magic shine. Dont be worried about altering your covers. Just be sure that when you do to get a real finish of the grit you want. always take the cover 1 step down further and then back. So if you want a 2000 finish hit the ball with 1000 first then go back over with 2000. You dont want to do a full resurface job because there is no need but you want to make sure you completly remove the OOB finish prep before you apply your finish. Ill let you guys know, for me a higher rev guy my favorite surface to get the ball down lane and really flip is 1000 abralon with a good coat of magic shine. When I want a ball to get down lane and turn dead nuts left on THS, this is my finish. If I want more control off the spot I use 4000 abralon, OR I use 1000 abralon with some kind of compound finish like old Clean N Sheen or Clean N Smooth. I still love those finishes on our products. Give good lenth but consistant midlane and continuation.

I had been struggling to find a reaction I like out of this ball. I have tried 2000ab, 4000ab,1000ab polished and 2000ab polished with not a lot of love. I couldnt seem to get the length I wanted and it woould react so fast of friction I couldnt find a consistent look. I had found 1000ab polished the best out of the bunch until yesterday. I took the ball to 500-4000-polish. I bowl fridays on wood+guardian that has quite a bit of oil that breaks down quick.
Last night I started with my 505T at 2000ab, had a great look...224 game one, 2 bad shots ended in splits and opens. Started game 2 decent but by 6th frame I had moved 7-3 on the night and stared seeing  10pins. Took out the 607 newly surfaced and it was great. Heads were broken down a bit and this surface got me through them easily and also let me open up the lane. Finished with the last 6.....255 and then third game went turkey, 4pin(spare) and off the sheet 279!
