track 400a drilling question...

looking at some suggested drilling lay outs for this ball they are all showing the weight hole should be placed up around the fingers and im just wondering why?

could i put the weight hole down near the thumb?

Depending on the layout you may not need a weight hole at all.

After looking over the drill sheet posted online I'm not sure what the thought process is, but most of the x-hole locations will be flare reducing x-holes if drilled with any depth. A lot of this will depend on your pap, and the balls specs as the actual end results of the static weight and where the x-hole location should be.

I'd reccomend picking your own layout based off of your style using the dual metheod layout, or just talking with your local proshop operator. I would ignore the Track drill sheet.

I agree with everything expect totally ignoring the drill sheet, that could be a great starting point for the reaction you want.  By combining and comparing your favorite layout with the track drill sheet layout (according to your PAP) the difference maybe noticeable or not.  In the end you are the person buying the bowling ball, I have been able to go by the Track drill sheet however my roll, tilt, speed, rev rate is very well totally different then yours.  Certainly brainstorming with your proshop operator is a must.

not that i am anything close to an expert on this, but i have had a few balls drilled in my day. prob ave 10/yr
Switched to EBI products a few years back, lots of track products as well

not once did i look at a supplied drill sheet, your pro shop operator should be the one to determine your layout based on what you are looking for.
A quality driller will check PAP, finger, thumb flexibility, proper grip pressure, etc.
no need for drill sheet except to be more informed yourself if you so choose

This is the only drill sheet I could find for the 400a. If it is the one that comes with the ball I would still ignore it. Not very informative, and with flare reducing x-holes the norm just not the best of ideas.(in my opinion)
