916AT with polish
« on: January 23, 2011, 01:02:10 AM »
Has anyone tried to experiment with the 916AT with polish? I was going to try that this evening and wanted to see how everyone else liked or disliked it with the polish.

As the AT in the title suggest this ball is perhaps one of the best at taking surface adjustments. Throwing polish on this will turn the ball into a true A series bowling ball.

I had to try it since our shot is a medium dry shot that pushes down after the 6th frame in the first game.

I took it to 4000 grit and really put my elbow into the polish. It worked great.

I can play right down 10 for the first game then move inside to 15-8 for the rest of the night. It doesn't snap like a normal angular would, but it really smoothed it out for me. And it still carries pretty good.

Give it a shot- it'll work.

Went out to practice tonight but the lanes were very oily so I didn't try to polish it. The way the lanes were done was a good thing because I'm bowling in the Indiana Masters this weekend and it gave me a good idea as to how well the 916AT does on a flatter oil pattern on synthetic lanes. I'll try it with the polish on Wednesday during league and see how I like it.

With polish this ball will really get down lane. If you have the right axis rotation you can see if get very angular. It still becomes more of an A motion with polish but an Axis rotation of like 60* or more really helps it read the friction and turn. I found myself liking the 916 more dull then polish. When dull I found it to be alot more readable on more conditions and more usable as well. However I know a few guys who are in love with it after they shinned it to help it get down lane more. Give it a shot, just be sure to use your favorite polish.
