920T-How strong is this ball?
« on: January 16, 2011, 11:59:23 AM »
Track touts this ball as being a hybrid between the Uprising and the 930T. Not having any experience with either of these, I thought I might come here and get some "inside" information as to what conditions this ball covers best and what its weaknesses might be.

I have had all 3 balls. The 920T falls right between them. It is strong but not real early. Smooth rolling heavy arcing ball that you can use on many medium oil conditions depending on how you drill it. Hope this helps.

Smooth arcing ball @ 2000 ab with a relatively strong drill.  I'd rate it for medium-heavy.  Can play straighter than balls in same strength category which is good on more even patterns....close down front angle.  I liked the ball sorta wish I still had it.

My experiences are the same with the 920T.  I've tried it at 4k, 2k, and 1k, and I think 2k is the best for me.  Also, I like straighter angles with it because it goes longer than some of my other equipment even though it's pin down.

The design and intent of the 920T was not to be an oiler.  It was designed to give league and tournament bowlers something that had a nice heavy roll BUT could be used longer without it over reacting.  It is one of my favorites along with the 505T in the whole number line because of how smooth and predictable it is.  If you look around you can get them a bit cheaper now.  It's only real weakness was imo the price point vs how customers perceive high end equipment...since it wasn't a heavy oiler it was sometimes overlooked.  It's a very versatile piece.

For me the 920T, is one of the most over looked and most versital balls we have. When in its OOB finish, it is what these guys state, Clean in the heads real nice strong midlane with a good consistant roll throughout the lane. It doesnt over grab in the mids nor does it over hook. Now when you take the cover and polish it at 4000 or even take it to 2000 and polish it. The ball gets alot cleaner and become more off the spot down lane. Mine at 4000 and polsih, Magic Shine, is very clean in the heads and mids and have a nice sharp move on the backend. I wouldnt say it is as sharp as say my 920A with the same finish and layout but it is real close still a good gap between but it is really a big change then say at straight 4000 or 2000. Now if you take the 920T and you dull it down to say 1000 or 800, you will find that it will pick up quicker I would guess mine picks up around 4-5 feet faster as it comes out of the heads, and it tends to have alot more of that T type of motion. Good solid traction coming out of the heads with an aggresive move throughout the lane.

This ball is real great on almost every condition aside from the soup and the complet dry. However I have ideas that with the right layout it could work on the dry. The soup would be little harder to do mostly because this ball for a T ball is just not as aggressive in the heads as the other T balls in our product line. If you pick this ball up, I say use your favorite layout and play with the cover see where you like it best.
