Ball is drilled with the pin 3 inches from PAP, 3 1/4 inches above my midline, MB 4 1/2inches from my PAP 1 1/4 inches right of thumb. I tried this ball with the box finish first....then I applied a light coat of Magic Shine.
Lane Conditions: 38ft buffed to 42 ft, heavy oil in the mids tapers to the gutter....(I tried it on what would be the equivalent of 2nd shift. WOOD lanes
Line: I started standing with my feet on 30 trying to hit 20 at the arrows with my breakpoint being around 7 board at the 35ft area. With the box surface the Rule started up WAY too quick to be able to use (if the shot was fresh the box finish would have probably been fine), so after roughly 20 shots or so AND moving over the left gutter cap I decided to make the change of surface. With the Magic Shine I was able to play the line I mentioned earlier, and the ball went forever and just looked like someone was down there pushing it left.
Reaction: With the box finish....early reving and extremely continuous on the backends. Once I put the Magic shine on it you could see it rolling early, but it waited until it got to the breakpoint to just jump left. I still would not quite call it a flip....but it is very close to it.
Impact: As with all Track high end stuff the Rule hits hard, VERY hard. It keep the pins low. I cannot really say how many games I threw because I did not have scorers on.....but I threw quite a few, and I only left ONE of the dreaded 10 pins. Both dull and polished it hit extremely well. If I had to say, IMPACT on the Rule is an eye lash below the Animal for me-----but above just about everything else I have seen.
Readability: Usually with a ball as strong as the Rule you cannot use it to read the lanes because it is going to be too strong to read the lanes with. The Rule lets you know (dull or polished) if it has encountered buffed oil, heavy oil or dry backends. I would prefer a ball like the Sheer Havoc to read the lanes........but I would not shy away from the Rule being able to do so either. The versatility of the Rule is what allows it to read the lanes so well.
OVERALL: Awesome ball. It will open up the right side of lane like no other ball that I have seen used. Those of you that want a strong reactive....look no further than the Rule. I thought the Untamed was the strongest reactive I have ever used (had the Anomaly, and Ultimate Inferno at one point), but the Rule is atleast 5-6 boards stronger throughout the entire lane. I have read some bowlers say that they want to open up the lane on heavy oil but cannot get enough backend for the ball to get back.....if the Rule doesn't do it for you then nothing will.
Following the crowd I hope to post some videos soon so people can see it in action for me.
I will be posting a review once I get some real games on the ball.
