Track Xception...revisited...
« on: February 11, 2005, 07:13:46 AM »
As I posted earlier this week, I bought an Xception from fellow BR member Iketown300.  I had the ball plugged and redrilled and got to roll a few games with it this afternoon.

We drilled this one for a slightly different reaction than what I get with my Animal and Animal Untamed.  We put the pin below and to the right of the ring finger (at about 5 o'clock) approximately 1.5" above the grip midline and the MB is below the thumb and just right of the grip centerline with a weight hole on the PAP.

The lanes were medium oil with a little carrydown from the Friday Sr. League that bowled earlier this afternoon.  Standing 16 and rolling it across the second arrow (my "normal" line), this ball had way too much backend and crossed over.  So I made a "radical" change, at least for me, and stood two boards left of center and rolled the ball over the third arrow out to about 10 and the ball found the pocket frequently.  First game after a cross-over 6-spare in the first, I drilled the pocket on every shot the rest of the game leaving two ten pins (both were picked up) and the rest strikes, finishing with the last six, for a 249.

Over the next two games, I tried several different lines seeing how far I could move left or right and seeing how far out I could throw the ball and still make it back to the pocket (pleasantly suprised by how much room I have with this ball, at least on this lane condition)...shot games in the 180s/190s.  I finished with 620+/- for the three games, which is pretty good for me, especially playing lines that I'm not real comfortable playing.

This ball is definitely going to allow me to be more versatile in moving around the lane and will allow me to play different lines with more confidence...just what I was looking for especially when my "normal line" begins to leave!  Will report back after further testing...
