Animal!!!
« on: February 21, 2004, 07:53:26 AM »
I tell you what....this ball just keeps getting better. I have not adjusted the surface. Once you start to get it track up a bit, this ball is even better than it was when it was new (and that is really saying something).

I have stated many times, I am not one that likes to really post scores. My scores with this ball have been outstanding. On drier conditions I simply move left and keep it in the oil as long as possible. When there is a lot of oil, or the backends begin to go away I can square up to the lanes with it. I get good results no matter where I use this ball on the lane. VERSATILE!!!! I thought the Unleashed was versatile, it is nothing compared to this ball. With the Compound finish this thing is hooks as much as the Unleashed with the Box 1500 smooth finish.

It keeps getting better and better with this ball. I will post a review after a few more games. I know the review will be good. I just cannot stand when someone gets a ball and hurries to review it after 3 games. I want to know the ball very well when I decide to post a review.

I agree about the 3 games posts.

I have had several ball's reactions change a great deal after just 12 games.
V2 clean for one!

since you have the the Unleashed and an Animal maybe you could answer this question.

if you have one do you need the other?

I ask because I Just bought a used unleased( 2 actually) and was thinking of maybe getting an animal later on.

I plan on polishing one unleased with the pin at 4.5 and MB at 5. and dulling one with pin a 4.5" and MB at 3"

what are your thoughts on this?

It really depends.

These 2 balls give 2 totally different looks on the lane. The Animal reacts so much more in the backend. The Unleashed is much smoother----compared to the Animal.

If you were to put the same surface on both of these, the Animal is going to be MUCH stronger.

Let me put it this way-----I always throw dull equipment, and I have left the Animal's surface where it is because of how well it still rolls, hits, moves, hooks. My second one is on the way, and I am going to dull it down. I cannot imagine the overall HOOK that this ball will have with a dulled down surface.

I am a big Track fan. I loved both the Phenom and Phenom Unleashed, but they are setting the standards so high with the Animal.

More of a direct comparison since my Animal is drilled exactly like my Unleashed:

Length: About the same, but this is with the Animal with the factory finish.

Controll: The Unleashed is more controllable when the backends are fresh. I find the Animal easier to be used on more of a variety of conditions.

HIT: The Unleashed hits HARD, extrememly HARD. The Animal hits even HARDER. To this point, I thought the Mutant was the hardest hitting ball I have ever used, even harder than the Phenom or Unleashed, but the Animal hits even harder with more messengers than any other ball I have used.

HOOK: With each having the box surface, you will have to stand deeper with the Animal because of how strong it is in the backends. If the Animal was dulled down I imagine it will roll so soon that there would really be no contest.

OVERALL: Both balls are very good. If a bowler has slower ball speed they are probably better off with the Unleashed because the Animal is going to make them move much further left.

GOODLUCK!!!
