new track ball
« on: November 11, 2005, 02:58:00 PM »
alright track people. tommarow im gonna order a new ball. i recently purchased an AR and love it but its realy strong and i need a benchmark ball. i think excaliber suggested the solution pp and thats my number one choice as of now. what do the rest of you think? plus how should i drill it? here is a pic of the layout on my AR, when i swing it 3-4 boards it gets to about 3 feet in front of the pins flares a good 3 to 4 inches and rolls hard. id like to be able to play the same line but for when my AR starts to go broklyn

im a stroker with decent speed and on this ball im going for versitility
thanks in advance!

You could alway go pin under the ring finger for a little more control as that is what I use.  But the drilling on your AR would be perfect for me! )

Shakezilla9,

I have an Arsenal Reactive and yes you are correct it is very strong, as a step down I would suggest either a Slash or the Solution Power Plus. These two have the same Elite core with different coverstocks. The Solution has the Power Plus Reactive while the Slash has the Power Plus EX Reactive. I believe the Solution Power Plus will be a more versatile fit because of how well from what I have heard so far it reads better with altering the coverstock. Although I have not thrown one personally I do have the Solution Power Plus EX which is just a pearl version so I cannot provide much help with you as far as that one. I, myself have a curious mind as to whether or not I want to try the Power Plus sanded version or not. As for the Slash, I have owned one and I must say, the coverstock sanded is very intimidating at first, but you can play a variety of angles with it out of the box. I tried polishing it when I had mine and became very weak, but that is only because of my style. However, your style may differ to polishing it. I hope this helps, I have to agree with Carl (EXCALIBER) of the Power Plus. It may do the trick, but don't count the Slash out either. It was a good ball when I had it, just as new stuff from Track came out, I had stuff overlapping it and decided I needed to sell it other than keep it! Hope this helps! God Bless You and let us know what you decide!

shakezilla,

Odds are that by placing the title as new track ball it made people check to see if there was a new ball topic here.

OK...on the ball.....I like the Solution PP to go under the arsenal reactive. I would suggest a layout that will get down the lane a bit more. Place the pin above the ring finger....this will place the pin further from your PAP thus helping produce more length.......Keep the CG stacked below. Remember, the Solution PP comes with a 900 grit finish so you may need to smoothen the surface a bit.

Goodluck, and let me know if you have any other questions.

The SOLUTION PP may be the best choice for you. But the thing is what drilling you put on it. Ask your proshop and he or she may suggest a different drilling then what you have on AR.If you put the same on SOLUTION PP as the AR it may or may not work. Also read the post of this SOLUTION PP on Ballreviews and Bowlingballreviews you may find someone with same style as you.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Hey shake,

The Solution PP is a nice step under the Reactive and the surface can be manipulated to handle the med conditions well.  I applied a coat of Clean and Sheen to it for a lite shine and it's been a great med ball.  Out of box it was a little too strong for me.

Shakezilla9,

Don't be in such a friggin' rush.
Good advice takes time.

Since Excaliber and tenpinspro have answered your question, you need no other; even I wouldn't dare post the slightest bit of contradictory advice or heck, even modified advice to anything they provided.  Believe me when I say, you have all you need to get an excellent ball reaction out of the Soln PP.

I feel a nice step down from the arsenal reactive would be the slash for a benchmark ball.
