animal coverstock

hey guys, im back. just picked up 2 nearly brand new animals. special thanks to thacrank.

anyways, im going to use them for a 1-2 punch on medium heavy to heavy oil. the heavy oil animal is drilled pin under the ring finger, while the med. heavy is drilled pin over bridge.

so, 2 thing- should i keep the first animal at 600 or 800?
and what grit should the 2nd animal be at?

also, does anyone know the oob grit on the animal?

OOB is somewhere around 1000 polish
Heavy oil - 320 to 500 with pin under (MB in roll postion near VAL?)
Med - hvy would be 800-1200 with pin over
Just my opinion based on the one I had prior to the GP2

Not a shiney finish, but it's supposed to be Clean and Sheen compound. I have Two Animals, One is pin up and next to the ring finger which I am selling, the other is a pin under the bridge on the center line, MB in the strong position.

Make sure you let us know about your Mean Machine resurface and it's rebirth

Your balls will be out tomorrow buddy, Monday. Both coverstocks are cleaned up and slightly polished because I wanted to get the belt marks off. Both cleaned with Clean n Tacky, and in great shape. You will love these two.

For your heavy oil/flood animal take the cover to 600 or even 500 abralon. This is real strong seeing how IMO the animal rolled the fastest out of any bowling ball track ever made. The other one you should keep around 1000 even. That should give you enough skid through the head and great read through the mids. That should work great for a one to punch.

hey, thanks for the replies. im not worried about my second animal burning up, but my first one......at 500-600, will it burn up too soon? should i sand it and leave it or put some polish on it? thanks

Like I said if you keep your stronger one dulled down to 500 or so you will have IMHO the fastest rolling bowling ball made by track, maybe ever. Only one ball I can think that may roll faster but it used a higherload version of the gp2 cover before track used it. That ball is the morich mayham and that was made back when mo was with track and columbia. Yet to this day I have yet to find a ball that is as strong in oil as the animal and yet still be so smooth and consistant.
