I have wanted to get this ball since it was released, and just never did. I got one from a fellow ballreviewer and all I had to do was put a slug in it to adjust the span.
Drilled: Pin above bridge and slightly left, cg kicked out about half an inch from the grip center
Lane condition: 38 ft buffed to 44ft, heavy oil in middle, tapered out to the gutter.
Wood Lanes
LINE: I was standing with my feet on 21, targeting 8 board at the arrows
REACTION: LONG and extremely strong. Skid flip reaction for me, but this ball seemed to actually read the mids really well for a pearl reactive.
IMPACT: I was very suprised at how hard this ball SMASHES the pins. I expected it to hit hard, but nothing like it does. When it hits the pocket and the bowler didn't pull it into the soup at all, there was no doubt the pins were all flying back.
READABILITY: I do not see this ball being a ball to read the lanes with at all. I see this as a ball to go to if your "benchmark" ball is a little too strong or reacting too soon on the lane.
OVERALL: This is the ball I have been looking for since my Hex Darkside was stolen. Very similiar to the Darkside in all aspects, except I think it will not be able to handle carrydown as well as the Darkside did. The Crunch Time is definately a ball that every bowler should have in their bag.
