The ratings are out for these 2 balls. I do not buy much into what BTM says in its ratings(NUMBERS). I try more to pay attention to what they say about the ball. I will list a few of the numbers.
In a NUTSHELL
Animal Untamed: Strong off of the breakpoint. Same backend potential as the Unleashed (I have to assume this is a little off, primarily because you are talking reactive vs particle).
OVERALL: Their comments are....As with all of Track's high performance bowling balls, this one needs oil. High performance always means lots of power and hook when you're talking about a Track ball. Stick to lane conditions that have oil upfront to be successful with the Animal Untamed.
Length: 12
Backend: 15
Total Hook: 49
SHEER HAVOC: What I see from their comments is that this ball is very versatile. "It will cover more conditions than most balls on the market".
OVERALL: IF you bowl on wetter conditions we recommend drilling this ball more aggressively. Those that bowl on drier conditions should consider using drill patterns with the pin further from their PAP. This ball will be useful on most patterns, no matter how it is drilled.
Length: 14.5
Backend: 16
Total Hook: 40
I am debating if I should commment on the core shapes.
OK, I'll tell ya. The core on the Sheer Havoc CLOSELY resembles that of the Assassin.....and this makes me very happy, because I loved that ball.
The Animal Untamed's core is a little more difficult to explain, but I will give it a go: Same BODY shape as the Freak, Mutant, SF.....It has the "wing" flip blocks like the SF did....but they are on the right side of the core and has one of the half circle blocks on the bottom left of the core. VERY INTERESTING.....however, I was hoping it would be pearl reactive, and it says nothing of that in the review.

So the Animal, and the Untamed will be like the Phenom and Unleashed ? RIGHT? Is that how it's understood ?

Better....much better!

The Untamed is track's attempt at a big hooking reactive to go with the current trend of heavier oil resin balls. All of the big companies are putting out a resin for a heavy oil ball such as the Ultimate Inferno, Full Throttle, Anomaly, and you could even make an argument for the Rush and Super Charge. Since it is reactive, polish should make it more versatile, just like the Ultimate, Full Throttle, and Anomaly while polished. But dull is good for heavier amounts of oil.

Are their pics of the Untamed out yet?? If so, I'd like to see one. Thanks. Kyle

Sounds like a good ball, but with the fin ish and those colors, I think its gonna look like a phenom unleashed

i've seen it used, looks nothing like a phenom unleashed.

Track has not really said too much about the Untamed. The paragraphs I posted above were from BTM.
The Untamed pics I have seen show it to be a much deeper purple color than the Unleashed.
Morpheous in a reactive shell------it is what everyone wanted, and now they are getting it. I see nothing wrong with that.

chitown, I agree fully. The Havoc is probably one of---if not THE best deal going on a bowling ball right now. Track packed that ball for the price that it is going for.
Make sure your settings are set back through February, and read my minireview on the Havoc. The ball moved much more than what I figured it would. This is the only Track ball that I feel they may have gotten wrong. Normally their equipment is exactly what they say it is. I do not see the Havoc with a strong drilling as a benchmark ball, it is far too strong for that.
As far as BTM goes----I never look at their numbers and put any merit into them, especially the total hook number. That stopped a long time ago for me. They rated the Mutant as more of an oil ball than the Super Freak. The Mutant did hook alot, and was my favorite Morpheous core ball, but it was nowhere near what the Super Freak was in oil. THEN they rate the Phenom Unleased's total hook as more than the Phenom.....The Unleashed moves, but nowhere near the Phenom. THEN they rate the Unleashed as more total hook than the Animal, that is difficult when the Animal outhooks anything that I have ever thrown, and I have thrown alot of bowling balls. So, do not put everything into number that any bowling magazine rates them. You have to read between the lines, and look for the phrases that indicate oil ball.
goodluck

Hey Bowling Dude, here's a link to the Untamed and Sheer Havoc overseas. I'm guessing it'll look the same here when released?

Ex, did I see somewhere before that this ball was only rated as 33(high) for hook?(Track scale) or am I mistaken? I thought it was supposed to fit under the Animal(40), Phenom(38), and Unleashed(36). Can't remember...thanks.

Hey
The Untamed are not a pearl ball, but its reaktive.
It has a core almost like mutant, and are a bit dull
out of the box.Its not purple but more grey/white.
I don´t care much for numbers from track or BTM anymore
either but i can tell you that the Untamed
seems to have more
backend than the Animal. Same hitting power.
The Sheer havoc lokes like the ball they went for, with
the first havoc, who i also think were way too strong
to be a benchmark ball.
Sorry if my spelling stinks

The core on the Untamed does not look like the Mutant core. It is a variation with the same basic BODY......but you are removing a larger block and replacing that with a smaller thinner piece.
I am pumped about trying both the Sheer and Untamed.

Rick,
I have not seen Track's hook rating for the Untamed. I have to believe it will fit just under the Unleashed.

Rick and fellows members:
I was told by a pro shop operator that these are Pearls. After looking at the pictures, they do look pearl. Also, it would not make any sense to have a Havoc which is a solid only to make a Sheer Havoc and have it be a solid as well. Would it? I could be wrong, though. USUALLY, when someone makes a ball, they usually release the complement with the other cover, ie..if they release a solid, they will release a pearl to complement it and vice versa, such as the Crunch and Crunch Time. If anyone can elaborate on this, I would appreciate it.
--------------------
If anyone out there is worried about the scores being too high, try duckpin!!
-
havoc = resin
sheer havoc = particle
two different shells, two different weight blocks and both can be drilled differently enough to complement the other.
