RevMaster Question
« on: April 20, 2004, 09:46:47 PM »
Hi All.  I picked up a used RevMaster in nice shape.  The ball had long pin (approx 4.5").  I kept the originaly layout, just adjusted span to fit.  Pin is located above ring finger (due to long pin, it is quite high) and cg was near the center of grip, shifted right, but doesn't require a weight hole.  The ball probably has 3/4 to 7/8oz side weight.

I would like to polish this ball up quite a bit and use it for medium-dry to drier lanes.  Is this possible? Or is the ball too strong?  I though I may be able to save myself some time/trouble by checking here first.  I have heard it is a fairly strong ball....  just wanted to check.

Thanks,
S^2

That should be really strong and flare a ton.  But good luck.  Shouldn't be bad from inside angles when the oil breaks down.

This ball has an extremely low RG with a ton of flare which is generally not suitable for drier lanes.  It's a very strong ball.  I had one with my dry lane layout and it still hooked quite a bit.  DP3 is right, it should be good for inside angles and when you want it to turn the corner.  As a matter of fact, I have one on the way just for that purpose.

super.. thanks for the insight...  I am still deciding on teh surface.. I threw a couple frames with it the other night in teh "as-received" condition.  Appears to be a 600 to 800 grit wet sand.  As expected this ball gave more of an arcing reaction.  It was however very strong as you stated.  I definitely think this ball will be too strong from drier conditions...  probably closer to a middle volume, medium oil ball.
Thanks all,
