arsenal reactive shined
« on: September 16, 2005, 06:20:46 PM »
Hi I was wondering If I got the arsenal reactive and shined it up what kind of reaction i would get. I was aiming for a earlier hooking arsenal angular(2.45 rg instead of 2.51).....would I get this reaction with a  shined up reactive???

Probably not, as the Aresenal Angular is a particle ball. The lower Rg cannot the sole basis for comparison because the covers are so different.

As I see it, it's all abalancing act.
In stock form the AR will be earlier than the AA because of the cover's preparation. With light polish it will PROBABLY still be earlier, up to a certain point, which will be governed by your ball speed, your revs, the drillings for each and the lane surface and the oil pattern. As yo ucan see there are so many variables for two very different balls, you'd have to experiment to see how much polish you need to add, to balance off both factors: length and ball reaction.

If you can polish it a little at a time, you can probably get where you want both balls to be.

If you want an earlier AA, why not take some scotch brite to the cover and dull it down and drill it stronger than your first? Might be a better idea, especially if you already like the AA, you know what you are starting with.

Hey djann19,

I agree with Charlest here because the Reactive is resin, it holds different reaction properties to oil vs the peak particle of the Angular.  I think if you polish a Reactive (even with it's lower rg), it may over skid on the heavier puddles in the middle of the lane where the Angular can create more natural friction.

The arsenal reactive polished will not over skid on anything.  Mine is polished with magic shine and it still grabs and goes HARD TO THE HOLE.  This ball is increadible!

Glad you like it;  it seems to have a lot to like.

Still like to know what the heck that coverstock is ....

The power punch reactive?  I don't know bud but it sure is strong.  I would like to see more balls with this cover.  The reactive with the OOB cover can handle a ton of oil for me.  I put the pin above the fingers and about 5" from pap.  I still couldn't use it on med oil.  So I put some magic shine on it and BINGO.  I have an awesome med to med/heavy oil ball of my dreams.  This with my arsenal angular gives me a great 1 - 2 punch for med.  When the reactive is too much then I can switch to the angular and be right on course.

I do want to say 2 things about the angular.  The backend move of this ball is neck snapping and the ball just flat out hits hard.
