Question on old Track ball ( Orange Triton?)

Had a guy give me one of these last Thursday night. After measuring, I find that I can plug it and the re-drill will take out 90% of the plugging material, but it has a long pin-out ( 5 in.) and has the pin well above the finger line and out to the right a bit with the cg in the palm.

The question is, is it worth the expense?  The full plugging is going to cost $30, re-drill is free, but new thumb sleeve and inserts are going to be $20-$25 more.

The ball looks to be in decent shape ( except for one smallish gouge which is away from the balltrack ), and would probably clean up nicely, but is it worth the $50-$60 dollars I would have to tie up in it?

Add all that up and you can get something new on ebay.
