Delta Question
« on: October 14, 2005, 09:09:08 AM »
I know the ball comes OOB with a 900 grit finished which is pretty smooth i
think. What happen if you dull to 400? Would it be able to handle heavy oil then?

It would roll sooner and have less backend.....as for heavy oil...I have not done this with one, so I can't say for sure. But why not the GP2 for heavy oil?

Clint: I know the GP2 would be a good oil ball but i was wondering how the Delta would be instead. For instance if i had 2 Delta, can i set one up for Heavy and the other for skid flip by tweaking the position of the MB and cover on each ball.

Hey Jon,

I don't see why not.  The Delta is pretty strong now but a 400-600 should do the trick for heavy stuff.  Also not a bad idea on tweaking the mb position for that stronger backend motion.

Thanks Rick. That would be nice to have 2 Delta's layed out different.
It''s all about preference. If you like a particular ball so much,
it doesn't hurt to have another to cover another condition. I have nothing against getting the right ball for heavy oil in the same ball company, but what happens if you just don't feel right with it.

Hey Jon,

The Delta 1 being resin still offers a different look and has different reaction capabilities (stronger off dry) than our GP2 which is designed for heavy oil.  So it is well understood why one may like a particular ball and drill 2 of them to just handle different amounts of oil or to just get a different look on the same amount of oil.

I just drilled Arsenal Reactive #2 in more of a normal position (pin over bridge, cg out right some) and it is a world of difference from my first one (drilled weak, pin over mid) but I like the cover and core so much, I had to drill a second one.

Jonathan,

At 900 (OOB) the Delta can handle its share of oil, so I feel very confident in saying at 400 it will handle some heavy stuff.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the advice and responses.

I just drilled up the NEW Heat. When it came out of box it was really arcy. Then when i polished it, it came a live and had the skid snap reaction like my original from back in the days.

I am itchin to try a Delta after seeing my buddy Ramtart throw it and watching
the videos of Rick and A. Chapman throw theirs.
