Opinion/Help on Possible Track Arsenal
« on: April 19, 2005, 04:23:30 AM »
Hi everyone, finally getting around to building an arsenal. Rick (tenpinspro), is setting up a GP-2 for me. I'm planning on building off the strongest ball which is the GP-2. I also acquired an Animal in sweet condition from Clint Daley. Currently I'm slotting it under the GP-2, but I am open to any ideas. Can you Track Guys (Rick, et. al) & Track users give me an opinion on this possible arsenal? I'm open to all ideas. My Specs are in my profile. Hope this helps!

Heavy = GP2
Pin Near Ring - Mb Near Val (4x2) (Pin x CG)
Surface = Out of Box

Characteristics
-Read Midlane
-More flare
-Forward roll look
-Possible Hook Set type of reaction

Medium Heavy Oil Patterns - Heavy = Animal (4x5)
Pin Near Ring - MB Under Thumb
Surface = 1000 matte

Characteristics
-Clean through heads
-Arc layout to possibly tame strong backends on a heavy pattern

Medium Oil Patterns = Xception
Pin Above ring - MB right of thumb (deciding anywher from 45-75 degree position)
Surface = Out of Box

Characteristics
-Clean through heads
-MB to right of thumb will give angular look on the backend

Light to Dry Oil patterns = Heat
Pin above bridge - CG stacked below in Palm (5x5)
Surface = Will hit surface with some extra shine (not sure what to use yet)

Characteristics
-Long & even, but strong
-Clean through the heads
-Can possibly use on Light-Mediums?

Thanks for your input guys. The only thing I'm not sure about is the Animal. With the tame layout, I'm thinking this ball might be a great ball for more of a Medium Oil pattern. But, with the Mega Fang, It might just do the trick on the Medium Heavy stuff. Also, with all the good things I'm hearing about the Slash, I almost feel that I'm leaving it out! What do you guys think? Would love to hear your opinions on this possible Arsenal!

Take care everyone,
Ramil

I think that line up would be fine. Seems like you have everything covered. Now, if Track would make a 6 ball bag, then you could add the Slash and a Rule too!

That's a very good arsenal.  The only thing I see, and no I'm not trying to get you to buy another Track ball is the gap between the Animal and Xception.  Both your Animal and GP2 have surface (1000 and 1500) and are very strong.  I think a possible hole might be a compliment to the Xception...either an Agressive or Slash.  This would be a smoother ball for the mediums where the Xception may be a little over/under or is skidding a little too much.  Both are excellent balls with  my favorite being the Agressive.

I think that would give you an excellent arsenal to combat a wide variety of conditions.  It'll contain both asymmetrical and symmetrical pieces.

BTW, have you slapped Harvey yet?

Clint...thanks for the suggestion bud. I think by the time this arsenal is complete, my credit card won't have any more plastic to swipe on it from being worn out heheh..

Anthony...thanks for the suggestions. I guess now that I'm starting to take my bowling more seriously and bowl more tournaments, It wouldn't hurt to come prepared. I most likely bring 2-3 balls to league, but I figure I'd better be prepared for anything and everything when traveling to tournaments. As for Harvey, I totally forgot to slap him...hehe, I'll mention you said that to him...I finished +18 at the Rhodman and missed the cut @ +55. Fellow Track Staffer Fero Williams Tore up the house and ended up winning the tournament. You guys should have a RevRate contest heheh...
