505A problems
« on: December 13, 2009, 05:36:27 PM »
just bought a 505A last week and used it for the first time saturday night. had it drilled with the pin above and to the left of ring finger(im lefty)with the cg straight down and in line with the pin (pin distance is 3-4) and the MB is about an inch left of the thumbhole. with a small deep weighthole. this ball is stupid stong in the backend. i am looking to try and tame down the backend reaction. so should i try knocking the polish off and change the surface grit. or just knock the factory polish off and repolish by hand. or lastly maybe increase the size of the weighthole. these are the only 3 things i can think of besides doing a redrill. any info would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

I think you have your options in the correct order. Try the 2 surface changes first. Then if they don't work, try the weight hole (don't worry about negative weights). Wt. holes usually need to be big enough to affect the core, at least 7/8" wide and 2 1/2" deep. P1 and P2 locations seem to have the strongest influence.

Try kncoking the surface down to 2000 abralon. Should blend out the boom on the backend.
