Arsenal Aggresive vs Hawg
« on: August 21, 2005, 04:35:38 PM »
Went to a trade show.  With a portion like Demo Days.

Threw the Hawg....loved it, even lots of smooth continuation.

Then after event I ran into a fellow who told me he had been killing our wet dry shot with a Arsenal Aggressive.

I was thinking that I liked the Hawg but thought it's high flare potential might be too much for our harsh wet dry!

The lower diff of the arsenal and his glowing reports about killing our center with the Arsenal Aggressive made me think....hmmmm maybe these new particle pearls ARE the way to go. Come to think of it I'd seen some guys really look good with Raging Infernos also.

Had an old Riot Zone that bounced off teh dry.  But for somereason these new ones seem different.  As exemplified by the Hawg...just smooth and continuous???

The Aggressive has been my #1 ball this season for battling wet/drys.  The particle cover really gives a smooth read off the dry but's strong enough to hook in the oil.

P.S.  I believe that the Aggressive is a pearl/solid combo so it's not as squirty as the Angular.

Well I guess that explains it. I thought that it was solid. I'm bowling in a new house this fall and the aggressive was squirting on me (long heavy oil).

It is still in box condition with a very strong drill I'm thinking of dulling the cover down to handle the oil that I have run into. The aggressive IMHO is better for medium/heavy with dry backends. If thats what you need it for it should work. In other words its what achappy said.

If you need a ball for heavier conditions with little backend get the GP2.

P.S. Has anybody dulled there aggressive down to say, 600-800 grit or lower and what where the results?

Bighorn:  What you possibly could be experiencing is the Aggressive overflaring which would cause it to look like it's squirting too much.  This is because of the "very strong drill" that you mention.  The Aggressive has a high flare potential and if it flares too much too soon, it will die off in the back.  The first one I had I drilled it pretty strongly (pin was 4 1/2" and it required more backend to turn the corner).  The current one is 5 1/2" and it actually covers more boards because of the later flare.  Just something to think about.

If the above is the case and you sand it down to 600-800, you may make the problem more apparent.

Chappy hit it on the head about the Aggressive...

Big...I know what you are saying about the Agg vs the GP2...GP2 can handle just that extra oil now and then the factory surface Aggressives can't.

Thanks for the advice. My ball driller who is my teamate thinks that the cover should be taken down. He also thinks that I should leave the aggressive alone and get a Animal. I'll keep you posted. I have league on Saturday.
