Solution PP and PP EX
« on: August 27, 2006, 03:30:02 AM »
As you guys know, I picked up both of these balls real cheap. I drilled up the PP EX on Friday. From what I was able to gauge, this ball will be a step down from my polished Heat. I wound up with pin over ring, cg in palm. Goes real long with a nice controlled arc on the backend. I was expecting more pop, but I think I will see that when I use the ball on fresh lanes with dry backends. The lanes had quite a bit of carrydown so it is tough to gauge how the ball will really react.

Now on to the Solution solid. I have not yet received this ball yet, it is due in tomorrow. My question is, can this ball be a benchmark ball to replace my Freakazoid? I want to get the same reaction out of it as I do my FAZ. Is this possible?

Hey there Mr "300"..,

The Solution PP solid is very strong out of box.  If you want to make it resemble the FAZ, you'd have to fine the cover some (very versatile to work with).  I'd say for you to try a coat of Clean and Sheen and then drill it near stack leverage to get that earlier look which the FAZ (very low rg) looked like OOB.

Try the Solution EX on a cleaner shot and you will see the backend, this ball definitely has some good pop to it on the drier conditions.

BTW, this is not a hypothetical suggestion.  I have two Solution solids and one is drilled stack lev.  I adjusted the cover several times to get it to work on  various conditions, incredible piece for the price.  I'd actually advise for you to try the solid OOB just to see it's strength and then tone it down so you know it's potential.  Hope this helps buddy...

Hey Ryan, Rick is right here. I've seen Rick throw the Stacked leverage one in action (Tournament & Practice). Out of box, the ball was really deceiving for mid-price type ball. Very strong & awesome value for the price! Go with what Rick says and try it out of box. Check out the reaction and tweak the cover till you get to as close to the Freak-A-Zoid as you can!

Cool, thanks guys. Now the question is do you think I should put the same drill pattern as on my FAZ?

My FAZ is currently drilled pin under bridge cg stacked directly below in grip center. I love this drill because of the smoothness and control it gives the ball. Would this be a good drill for the Solution as well?

I think the Solution could make a very good benchmark ball. I thought it was good that Rick suggested Clean n Sheen....I thought the same thing as soon as I read your post.

The Clean n Sheen will get it close to the Freakazoid. Using the same layout should work well.
