NOrmally, I'd say the CT would fit under the HB by maybe 1/2 to 1 a notch, with more length because of the higher polish and the half pearl cover and flippier core. The CT's cover is actually slightly stronger (PowerPlus Ex) than the HB's (plain PowerPlus) but the HB has that compound polish, vs the CT's gloss polish.
That said, your drill of the HB with that very high pin vs the smoother, earlier roll type of drill PLUS the kicked out CG would tend to make their ball reaction much closer, in my opinion.
The actual results will depend more on your release and the oil pattern (house blends tend to disguise ball differences.)
Normally, that is with the same drill, I'd tend to think the CT could be a goto ball on a house blend. League transitions tend to be minor tweaks and this could help you stay in your comfort zone. But often, with some transitions, you'd use a much milder ball and stand deeper; then the CT would probably not be the goto ball.
