Arsenal for BTS
« on: July 28, 2004, 02:54:35 PM »
Hey Everybody,(submitted by bts)

It has been a very long time since I posted anything...but here is my arsenal for the upcoming fall...any inputs would be appreciated.

Heavy - Phenom
Heavy/Med - either a Mutant (undrilled) or Unleashed (haven't bought yet)
Med/Carrydown - Freak Out
Med - Threat
Med/Dry - Havoc
Dry - Dry Heat
Spare - White Dot

Misc Balls I have: TPC Shooter XL
Some basic info: I'm right handed, Med revs/Med Speed, my PAP is 5.25 over and 1/8 up. just want to get some basic feedback. Have bowled PBA Shot League over this past summer and has taught me alot about my game.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hey Brian,

I didn't want to hijack Rocks thread (he's a big guy..) in case anyone else had some input for him.  Here's what I'd suggest based on your info...

Heavy - Phenom (consider an Animal for real heavy stuff, if needed)
Med/Heavy - Unleashed(if Phenom is there), Untamed/Rule (if Animal was there)
Med/med - Mutant/Havoc/FreakaZoid
Med/Lite - Freakout/Sheer Havoc
Med - Threat
Med/Dry - Dry Heat/Crash
Dry - Col Scout/Col Fear(more backend for 3 piece)
Spare ball - plastic/ or whatever works..

Strider makes a good point that the Havoc is too strong to be considered a med/dry ball.  Not sure if yours is polished or not but most of us had that ball hooking a lot more then expected.  I have placed the 3 new balls above in their respective categories based on early feedback and design.  I haven't personally thrown them yet.  Hope some of this helps....

I agree with Rick on both counts....with and without an Animal there. AND I do not want to disagree with him, he is a little guy and could really bruise my shins

I really feel if you are going to have a Track arsenal, it is a necessity to have an Untamed there.

Thanks Guys!

Ii kind of figured what you were gonna say.  I've read most of your posts, plus I know Chuck Gardner and he has helped me tremendously.  I just wanted some feedback to see if I was thinking this through logically.  I kind of knew I was gonna need an Unleashed somewhere in this mix.  Just so you guys know, Chuck had me layoout the Havoc a bit on the weaker side.  However, like you guys mentioned, I can still make it move a couple of boards.  If I remember correctly, I think we drilled it 5.5 x 4 with the pin about 4 inches up from my mid-line.  The CG is barely kicked out, but just enough for a balance hole.  I believe the reaction is more skid flip.  Bowled on the PBA Senior D the other night and the backends were just to snappy for the Havoc.  Switched to the Dry Heat and unless I screwed up my release, I hit the pocket everytime with authority.  It I was to go with the Mutant...what type of layout?  Chuck gave me this ball, it is a blem with the pin and cg about less than 1 inch apart.  Again..thanks for the feedback....

Gotta fit an Untamed in the for Med Heavy all the way to almost med/dry. This ball reads the lanes so well you can get deeper with it because it gets the length to keep it from rolling out. Got a 5X3 skid snap grilling on mine and it is the best ball that I have ever thrown. Don't miss out on an Untamed.
