Arsenal Reacitve........................
« on: November 14, 2005, 04:51:55 AM »
How much oil can the Arsenal Reactive take?

Can someone use this particular ball for Heavy oil?

Can it handle carry down?

I have 3 Reactives, 2 have factory surface. Both are drilled with the CG in the palm, one has the pin just below the fingers, the other has the pin 2 inches above the fingers. Both handle carrydown VERY well. They can handle a decent amopunt of oil, and with a cover change, could handle lots of oil. However, the Delta and GP2 both handle more oil without messing with the cover, and the Robo Rule may as well which is coming soon.

it must have head oil. i haven't used it on real carrydown but if there is no head oil this thing will be a nice spare ball. i would imagine you could use this on heavy but in my experience it needs some backends that aren't covered. i think you would be better off using it on med-heavy instead of your ultimate oil ball.

Hey Jon,

I also have 2 Reactives (1 strong, 1 weak drilled) and it can handle the med/med to med/heavy easily.  I've taken it across the Bay Area as well and it was more then enough.  It pulls up nicely with it's lower rg so it helps read the mids quicker which then helps react thru the carrydown better.  Stop by the shop and I can show you what it does bud...

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents-

I polished mine with Magic Shine after throwing it for several games.  When dull, it looked like a decent alternative to my Rule when I was looking for less backend and more roll up front...but with polish, it gives me almost as much backend as my Rule, while clearing the heads easier.  It still seems to handle carrydown well.  This gives me a better alternative on the commonly-drier conditions I have locally...but when bowling regionals, I expect to have the most success with this ball dull.

I wouldn't be surprised if, a couple months down the road, I have a second Reactive as well...another very versitile, hard-hitting piece from Track!

With the OOB cover this ball can handle a ton of oil.  If dulled I feel it can handle any amount of heavy oil that a person will see.

Jonathan,

1- The Arsenal Reactive can handle its share of oil, and if dulled down I feel confident is saying it can handle anything shy of an absolute flood.

2- Yes

3- If it is drilled properly it can handle carrydown. My Arsenal Reactive cuts through carrydown easily. Do not place an early rolling layout on the ball if you want it to cut through carrydown.

Goodluck,
Carl

Carl, since carrydown is a problem where I bowl, I'm curious as to what drilling you have on your AR, and what the original ball specs were?  Also, are some ball specs (top wgt & pin length) preferred when selecting a ball that will be set up for working on carrydown?  Thanks.

EXCALIBER:

What do you think of a 5 x 4 layout with the pin under?

My buddy wants it to handle when the lanes have medium to heavy heads with carry down.

I am giving my buddy a used GP2 and was wondering what you think of a 4.5 x 4
layout? 4.5 to PAP and 4 in from MB to PAP?
