arsenal reactive
« on: September 06, 2005, 06:23:42 PM »
I'm not going to give a review on this ball until I get many games on it.  I just want to say a couple of things about this ball.

1.  With the OOB surface this ball can handle a ton of oil with ease.

2.  With magic shine and the drill layout I have on mine(pin above bridge but a little bit towards the ring( about 5" to pap) and cg kicked right to 1oz and no x-hole) THIS BALL HAS A VERY POWERFUL BACKEND.

3.  I will give a review of this ball after I put more games on it and use it on some different patterns.

I just wanted to express some things about this ball.  With all of the talk about the other balls don't let this one slip under the radar because I have no problem saying that the backend of this ball is one of the stongest I have ever seen.  I put magic shine on mine because the OOB cover is too strong for what I want mine for.  I will use this ball for med to med/heavy.  This ball has a great chance to become my favorite ball right up there with my animal.

I will let you know after a few more games.  For me this ball so far is what i've been looking for.  I have always wanted a reactive animal.  Well this is kind of what I was looking for in that reagard.

Hey Joshua,

I think the Arsenal Reactive would be a great carry down ball as it reads the mids very well but still has a smoother but strong finish on the backend.

If you're looking for skid/snap due to your lower tilt, I'd say the 5.0 polished fits that bill very well.  Just make sure to place the mass bias far away enough from pap to help you get that backend finish as well.  You can ask some of the guys out here on BR, the 5.0 has quite a bit of backend, much more than I expected.  Hope this helps some....

Josh,
You want MB right of thumb in the "strong" position. MB Left of thumb is a weaker layout. I'd go with pin over and MB about an inch or two right of thumb. Probably would be somehting like a 5"x4" layout, depending on your measurements.
This is where Rick, Clint, or Carl will chime in and give more technical advice.

For those of you who have thrown it so far...How does the reactive compare with the GP2? I tend not to see enough oil for my GP2, and would like something to go under it and above my Raging Inferno...Was wondering if perhaps this is the ball for me.

Hey Joshua,

Spanky is correct.  I'd suggest something along the same lines of his 5x4mb and keep the pin up above fingers.  If you can supply me with your pap, I'd be happy to give you a more accurate layout.

In regards to mb (>.008) placement for asymmetrical balls, we can push it only so far before it goes past the the point of it's "positive" strength and effectiveness.  Generically speaking, around 6-7 inches away from pap starts to hold a ball back and then becomes what we consider a weak placement as spanky states.  Hope this helps some...

TJ,

If the GP2 is too much, it would either be between the Reactive, Blue Heat or Aggressive.  All three offer more reaction compared to the Raging.  I see my Reactive read the mids quicker and smoother but still have a strong finish compared to the Blue or Aggressive. In discussing with Achappy and Excaliber, we all see this ball get up from the dry but not jumpy, just a strong but controlled movement with great hit.  Just bought some new software, should have some vids up soon.
