HOLY Robo Rule! (Mini Review)
« on: December 21, 2005, 06:57:19 AM »
Got one punched out today, pin 3 3/8 from PAP, mass bias 3 3/8 from PAP (right of thumb) cg slightly kicked out toward PAP with a small extra hole on the PAP due to this. Left the ball with factory surface.

Used my GP2 which is drilled identical to above with the exception there is no weight hole as the cg was not kicked out to the right of the straight line you can draw from the pin to the mass bias, factory surface as well.

GP2 was strong and hit like a ton of bricks. Was lined up pretty well (normal house shot, not the Classic shot we bowl on Fridays) with the GP2...then I finally picked up the Robo. Got EXACTLY what I expected, a touch longer, more backend. Ball probably went a few feet further with a more defined breakpoint and move at the break.

I have had problems the last few weeks the last game of league as I shot have not shot under 655 the last 5 weeks and the HIGHEST game 3 I have had is 216! GP2 was burning up in the track and inside I left 10 pins all night the 3rd game...so I think this Robo will fill that void PERFECT for the 3rd game for me, or whenever I see the GP2 start to go over/under.

Only threw a few shots with my new Delta, but the Robo is earlier with less backend....but not enough shots to give you guys a fair shake on here.

More to come!

great comparison clint, keep it coming...my finger is on the trigger, ready to order a 15lb Robo (to replace my 16lb GP2).

Just want to make sure the Robo isn't "a lot" more than the GP2.  I like my gp2 because I know what it's going to do.  Just at times, I could use a "little" more umph.

thx...

Its not a lot more, in fact, I forgot to mention what this combo reminds me of. When I had the Phenom and Phenom Unleashed, they were close to the same covers, just like the GP2 and Robo (medium loads Phenom and GP2 and light loads Unleashed and Robo). When the Phenom was just a touch too much or would start to burn in the track, I could pick up the Unleashed, NOT MOVE, and be deadly with it....I feel the same thing here!

Clint isn't this the ball you have been waiting for since the gp2.  A light load version of the gp2 particle?

In a way, yes....but what the GP2 has that the Phenom did not is the higher Rg which helps it through the heads easier....thus why I feel the GP2 is more versatile and why I have been successful with it. The only reason I feel I need to make a ball switch the last game now compared to a year ago is I had the pin uder the ring then and mass bias SUPER weak left of thumb...a control drill for me....now I have everything basically stacked with pin just to the right of the ring finger, 3 3/8 from PAP, mass bias ending right of thumb, so it makes for a stronger reaction and thus why I need sonething else NOW when the heads start to really go....whats funny is I make a ball change LATER than others using less aggressive balls/or less aggressive drills....just reinforces how versatile the GP2 is.

That last statement reminds me of the animal.  Very versatile for an heavy oil ball.
