Back to Back 300s with Kinetic
« on: October 25, 2007, 06:29:17 PM »
Just had a really good night subbing in the Linden B league at Jersey Lanes in Linden, NJ.  I was using a Kinetic drilled two weeks ago by Lonce from the Next Level Pro Shop.  Entered the night with a 217 average after 18 games as a sub, and proceeded to throw the first 25 strikes of the night. A ringing ten pin in the 2nd frame put an end to the streak. I left a 7 pin in the 4th, followed by a stone 8 in the 5th.  After a double in the 6th and 7th, another ringing 10pin in the 8th put me at risk of not reaching 800.  My dumb azz went and missed the spare giving me 156 in the 8th before striking again in the 9th. In the 10th I pushed the ball way right and missed the headpin like an idiot. Made the spare, and tried using a different ball just to judge reaction since it no longer mattered.  Ended up with a 193 after bowling my 3rd and 4th sanctioned 300 games. Out of the 21 games subbed, I have 3 300 games so far this season in that league.  Average is now at 224 after entering the season with 212.

I now have 4 300's, 2 299's and one 800 (804) series to my credit.  I also have two 11 in a row for 290s.  On the flip side, I've now bowled 279-279 back to back and not shot 800... Also, a 290, 269 first two games and not reached 800, in addition to the back to back 300 only to fall short lol... I suck

For those interested, ball is drilled pin over bridge with cg in palm and MB slightly (maybe an inch) right of the thumb.  I dont have any of the other particulars. Box surface had great length with awesome backend, but I'd leave too many 10 pins.  Tried to sand the surface down but didnt like the very early reaction too much.  Threw it in the lustre clean machine for 5 minutes and the ball's worked wonders ever since. Go figure.

Thanks Lonce

Congratulations on the back to back 300's.  Too bad you missed the 800 series, but still a good series.

Dont feel too bad.  Everyone has the same issue before they finally get one.  I had 7 sets in the 790s before I got my first 800.  There is alot of pressure to shoot another big game to get that 800.  ALOT of bowlers once they know someone is turning the corner at 540+ still dont realize that it is going to take another 250+ to get to 800.  800s are not easy no matter who you are.  My thing, was that I thought about it too much once I finished the second game and put pressure on myself to make the perfect shots everytime.  Not too many people get the chance to make the corner at a perfect 600.  For that, I congratulate you.  Take the positive from the experience and dont look at it as a failure.  You did well and this gives you something more to build on.  Best of luck and keep your faith.  It will come sooner or later.

I got home and looked closer at the printout of my third game. I started the first frame on the left lane, and finished the 10th on the right lane...

Left Lane: Strike in 1st, Strike 3rd, Stone 8 pin 5th, Strike 7th, Strike 9th

Right Lane: 10pin spare, 7pin spare, Strike, 10pin open, missed headpin right 8count spare

Word spread kind of fast.  I only sub in that house, but I've heard both the "Congrats" and "You suck for not getting the 800" from both those I know and those that I don't know in the other two alleys that I bowl regular at.

793 doesn't really sound like all that much with the front 25.  That's what he's been thinking since he bowled.

Nonetheless, great shooting.

back to back .... Congrats.  That's my next personal goal.. missed it by 5 strikes last time.. too bad on missing the 800.  But it might have been self induced pressure.

Anyways a heck of a job bowling.  Hat's off.

luckylefty, my name isn't lonce lol.  I was thanking lonce for drilling up the ball (which actually cost me just 21 dollars after buying 7 ball raffle boxes and winning!).  Not a bad driller, not a bad investment, for a definate winner of a ball!
