Mean Machine or Black Widow
« on: September 01, 2006, 09:19:24 PM »
I'm gonna get myself a early birthday present, and it will be either a Mean Machine or a Black Widow.  I'm looking for a ball that will have quite a bit of backend on a fresh THS on synthetics that quickly gets some carrydown due to the plastic that is thrown in our league.  I don't know how accurate BowlingBall.com's "Perfect Scale" hook rating is. but the MM is 182.8 and the BW is 198.8.  Both sound really strong, and seem to be quite popular right now.  Anyone thrown both or have some insight on them?

Insight:

The Black Widow is going to need friction for it to turn the corner. The Mean Machine is meant for much more oil. WITH THAT SAID....adjusting the cover on the Mean Makes it have increadible backend. On carrydown I would prefer the Mean Machine because you will be able to tug it into the carrydown and still get reaction. The Black Widow will work if you stay around the carrydown to the dry.....but if you tug it into the oil it will be a wash out.

Carl is right. My friend have a widow and I have seen it in action and i have the mean. Both have great backend but the widow is very sensentive. I mean the widow is awesome if condition is just right and if the backend is dryer that thing will over hook. In the other hand the Mean is for med-heavy oil to heavy oil and also very forgiving. Btw, you also ask this in the Hammer thread too cuz I been looking over there. Hope that help......
