It was bound to happen. Del is gone, and now the ball-a-day giveaway is gone. To all that won, way to go to. For the ones that didn't(like myself) we tried. And for those that won twice, go to a casino or play the lottery!
-
It was a great thing. Thank You Track.
The thing that bothers me is this was suppose to last for a year. Why the change?
Del was in charge when this went to be a ball a day give away, but it was not his BABY.
That person is still at Track, and I would like to know why the change ?

mmhm. KeglerX won twice, and someone like all the people that are active on the site, don't win at all. Kind of a cheap outcome to me.

Most balls hi-po run about 50 bucks too make i have heard recently, the figure i had from 6 years ago was around 38 bucks. Of course i could be talking out my behind like will be said by someone at the company. BTW my info is not columbia figures it from another ball company so maybe they do cost track more.
-
I don't know how Track doesn't have any money from all the balls I have bought in the last 6 months and with them coming out with a ball a month, one would think they must be making some kind of profit.
To bad they didn't honor their deadline for the ball give away.

And the reasons to stop buying Track continue to grow!!!
Reasons? hmm. Other ball companies didn't offer this. Track equipment is by far superior to Lane 1, Storm, MoRich, Legends/Lane Masters and even Brunswick. They are pretty even with Ebonite and it appears their parent company Hammer is doing well too. If you haven't thrown any Track equipment in the past 12 months, you are missing a lot. This stuff hits, and hits harder. I have thrown equipment from all the manufacturer's except Lane Master/Legends. For my game, Track works for me. The others didn't. I commend Track for offering this. It was a way to get Track balls in people's hands to see that Track has excellent equipment.

Uh Uh....Speak for yourself. For me it doesn't work that way. Tracks older balls like the Havoc, Slash, Heat, and other such Track balls worked great for me on the conditions I bowl on, but Track's new balls the last 10-12 months with the overly strong MB's, coupled with the strong covers, and etc. don't match up to me any more. Due to that, I was forced to look else where. That's why I tried a couple of Legends/Lanemaster balls and so far they seem to be a good fit for me.

Track is good, Brunswick is good, let's call the whole thing off!
Yup, and so is Legends/Lanemasters, Ebonite, Hammer, Mo-Rich, and all the rest of the companies. It is all about match-up. In other words, each person needs to find what works best for them.

A simple thank you for running it in the first place would suffice. Sometimes showing some gratitude for a program goes a long way. I'd hate to think that free is the only way to get people to show some loyalty.

The loyalty I show is by wearing the Track shirt I bought with my own money, and the 10 Track bowling balls I have sitting next to my computer. I bought everyone with the pension money I get every month from working 30 years in a steel mill.
How is that for loyalty Mr. NEWGUY?

That is truly loyal and we greatly appreciate it. My comments are directed at those who bash a company about a FREE program being cut off.

and how does that comment add to the intelligents of this thread?

you're quite welcome.

Thank you for the personal attack. I only offered an opinion. If you didn't like my opinion I totally understand, but to make personal attacks, well I guess you have that right.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Selliger of the Southern Cal bowling league. I just got a report that a member of your team, Walter Solcheck, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true, it controveens a number of league bylaws.

I don't think he needs your permission to do that.
Personally, I am embarrassed that someone would come on here and talk to Phil the way Z has done. Phil deserves respect for his position with Track.

Sure it's not nice to cancel a free ball giveaway, but it's not like anyone is losing anything out of this. Track was nice enough to even give out ANYTHING, so they had to right to stop doing it whenever they pleased. I doubt it had the effect of name-spreading that they hoped so from a business sense it didn't really seem logical to continue it. If I started giving you $10 every week for the heck of it, then after a few weeks decided to keep it, do you really think that you have the right to complain about me because I'm not doing a service I don't need to?

And replies like the ones in this thread are what you want to come out of the President of a company? Not bashing, just wondering.
I'm a little upset about the B-A-D giveaway ending prematurely. I've been throwing Track (exclusively) for the past 3 1/2 years or so until just before the start of this season when I bought a Black Widow. So my loyalty had nothing to do with a free giveaway. But why say you will run it for a year and end it after 5 months? It's also pretty irritating to go enter every weekday and not win when there are people who got to win more than once. So thanks for nothing I guess.
Oh well, I'm leaning heavily towards trying another Hammer ball next anyway. So far, they seem to match up for me better.

Holy crap. I can't believe that you people are talking to the man that MADE Track a name 10 years ago like he's some schmuck behind a keyboard.
This is Phil.
I was getting ready to post asking if this "new guy" is Phil as I thought it was. Isn't there another Track offical also called the "other guy"?
Although Track may not have held this ball give-a-way for the year as intended, I think it is great they did it as long as they did. Even if Track had done this for only one week, it is still longer than any other company did so everyone should give Track credit for that. You don't see any other ball company out here being as generous as Track was.

HEY GUYS!
This stuff has to stop...I, for one, believe this to be the reason as to why some of the gurus that post in the Track forum have stopped posting...because of idiotic childishness on the part of users who have nothing better to do than cause problems...and to be honest, I'm considering leaving the forums as well because of this crap...

Phil, anytime. People still crave stuff that you made 10 years ago. So I know we're in for something else.
Brick,
Other Guy is Billy O, if I am not mistaken. He was with Dyno, but not sure about Track. Correct me if I am wrong.
And as of these stone 8's or gutterballs, you watching shows from the 80's or something? What does that have to do with ANYTHING?
Weirdo.
Jeremy
Billy O is with Brunswick now..

Well, here is the history lesson:
In 1972 a man by the name of Dick Hass from Kent/Ravena Oh. bought the Manhattan Rubber plant in Lagrange Georgia.
By 1975 he was calling his company Star Trak. Some of his blems were called Star Traxxx.
From 1975-1990 he made urethane bowling balls. That is right! Urethane came out in 1975 with the MSG Star Trak. This ball had a very small styrofoam core surrounded by a deep pancake block covered in 2 inches solid urethane.
Dick made the MSG Star Trak, the Star Trak Pro, The Pro S, The Force 1, 2, 3 and 10, X15 red, X15 blue, the ST10, The Equalizer red, blue and black, The Equalizer 2, and the Reactor series. In 1989 Dick went bankrupt, and the urethane provider took over the company and changed the name to Track, Inc.
The reason for the bankruptcy was non payment of taxes, poor quality control, core separation and no market. Dick simply was not a businessman but his core designs for the time were as revolutionary as anything that Mo Pinel or John Fabanich came up with years later. It was hard competing against the Black Hammer, Columbia Black U Dot, The Ebonite Thunderbolt, and AMF Black Angle.
Other small companies like Gem Tek, Eureka, and others quickly went out of business due to no distributorship.
When Del and I emailed a few times, he said he remembered Dicks bowling balls and actually threw some on tour when Dick bowled the tour in the 1970's and 80's. After Star Trak went bankrupt, Dick Hass sold the "Buddy bags." If it were not for Dick Hass, there would be no Track today.
Early Track balls are actually Star Traks with a Track Logo.
The Star Trak Force 10 is a Track 10
The Star Trak Equalizer is a Track Enforcer
The Star Trak Reactor is a Track Pearl
The Star Trak x15 is a Track T Shark
There ave been 100's of ball companies come and go over the past 40 years. I remember most of them, and most are gone and more will come and go.
It is the nature of the business. Bowlers are always wanting the next fix for their game.

Wow what a history lesson, just a few corrections, the urethane supplier "Seegott" Solon Ohio didn't take over the plant he recouped his money by having balls built in the plant in Ohio. Having collected most of the money owed to him for urethanes purchased and not paid for by Star Trax he and I had the plant closed and sold the machines to several different ball companies in order to get the balance due us. We than approached Columbia to build the Track Balls ( the brand he and I started)in 1991 we sold the brand to Columbia.
You are totally correct in saying why Hass 's business failed, he was notorious for giving away product and getting involved in promotions that generated little to no return on investment.

I believe I have a Star Trak bowling ball somewhere in my garage. If memory serves me correctly it is a robin's egg blue color. Does this sound familiar to anyone? It seems to me it came out around the time Brunswick developed their LT-48.

I loved Track's older stuff. The Shark was one of my all time favorites. The Code Reds, NRG, Synergies were all outstanding stuff. Phil, any chance you might be able to dig up a 15# Plastic Enforcer from the depths of the warehouse? Also, didn't the Enforcer come with a drill sheet that had 20-something different ways to drill it? Oh, how about coming out with a ball that has the NRG core with a new coverstock. That ball was B-A-D!
-
When people begin to throw 300's with the new Track equipment all of this will be an afterthought.
Although I didn't win a ball, thanks for the opportunity Track.

bowlingdoorman,
Thanks for the history lesson. I have a Star Trak Force ball - which one I dont know offhand, might be a 3, just saw it the other day when I was moving some balls around - it's blue, that's all I remember. Also own a Eureka Tank.

I am not sure why it is so important that they explain why it was cancelled. I heard so much complaining on this site that I would have cancelled it a month ago. People complained about there specs, how long it took to receive the ball, they hadn't receive there email notification yet and some people had won twice and they hadn't won once.
-
This is crazy. The balls were free. They gave away a lot of balls for nothing but a little publicity. It's over. Let it go people.

I agree. You people that are complaining, name one other company that was as generous as Track was at giving balls away......

You know....if someone was to, sometime on tuesday night, put a new ball in my 2006 F150 4 door Black and silver truck sitting outside a bowling center on Austin highway in San Antonio, TX., I guess I would be inclined to give Track another shot. " Hint Hint ".
