Title: ball falling off thumb
Post by: badpoly on March 02, 2006, 07:47:50 AM
First off...had a great series for me again last week with my Rule Delta 1...706.  Since then I've been at the lanes 3x to practice and I'm all of a sudden having a hard time holding on to the ball...it's like my thumb shrunk or something...I keep dropping the ball at the line...all you hear is THUMP on my realease.  Do I just put some tape in the thumb hole or is there something other you guys use that helps with this?
I already have a majic carpet in the thumb.

I run into this problem due to the cold temps here in NYC.  I also use Magic Carpet.  Assuming you've placed the Carpet in the rear of the thumb hole, I'd suggest you put a couple of pieces of white tape (whatever your preference) in the front.  If that's not an option, you can always remove the carpet tape, add white tape then place the carpet over thus leaving the front of the hole tapeless.

Grip-loc removeable thumb inserts would solve your problems very nicely.

badpoly,

Where are you located? As FBM has mentioned when the temperature drops it can also make your thumb/fingers shrink....this can cause you to drop the ball.
You may just need to put some more tape in your thumb hole.

I'll give tape a try.  I live in Wisconsin and yes...it's cold here
Must be due to the temperature...hopefully the tape works out.
Thanks.
