I am looking to add a ball that has similar overall hook potential to my Lane 1 Cherry Bomb but not as skid/flippy. I am looking for a strong controlled arc on a med-heavy THS with new synthetic lanes. My center has recently been doing a lot of Track sales (we had a couple pro's from track do a seminar earlier this season). I have used Track equipment in the past and have been very happy with it. I have watched several people throw the Rule and the Freak-A-Zoid and have been pretty impressed with both. I have med. speed (16-18), med. revs and med. track. I would say I am a tweener but have recently been working on throwing with a more controlled approach (more controlled arm swing with a more down and in reaction). Hoping this will give me another dimension to my game so that I will not struggle as much when I go to tournaments. I have all Lane 1 and Storm equipment right now (not really due to pref, just worked out that way) I guess my question is, will the freak-a-zoid do well on the med/heavy condition, or should I go with the Rule. Or is there something else you think may fit even better?

The balls that fit that category are the FAZ and the Xception IMHO. The FAZ is maybe a touch under the CB in reaction but I know the Xception pretty much describes what you're looking for. You can drill the Xception to be a little smoother but it also has that reaction for me naturally. The Goo covers are strong yet predictable, neither are skid/flippy or I couldn't throw them at my slower ball speed and turn. Since you are trying to expand your A-game as well, a little more ball strength will not hurt. The Rule (also a great ball) is about 4-5 boards stronger than the Xception for me. It depends on how much strength you want or need. Hope this helps some...

With your specs, which are similar to mine, I have more success with particles than resin. Right now, I am killing them in my scratch league with an original Phenom. No surprises in the ball, does exactly what you do. Ball has a nice arc finish on dry backends. I also throw about 18 MPH and have a high track (about 1/4 of an inch from fingers and thumb). My 600 grit sanded Animal works in this nature as well, but overall is stronger everywhere than my Phenom. It starts earlier and has a more defined backend.

The new Rule GP2 is being touted as having a strong arc, but I have not received mine yet so I can not vouch for this, but it sounds AWESOME!

Thanks for the input. IMO the Aniamal is going to be to much for what I am loooking for. I guess the reality of it is that I want something a bit stronger than the CB, so the Rule is kinda soounding like what I am looking for. I am giving real serious consideration to going to all Track equipment (except for my XXXL) My driller has been talking with the guys from Track for me, so hopefully I will get a little more info tonight. The Xception does sound like a pretty good fit as well. I was under the impression it was a bit more of a skid/flip though. Guess I was mistaken. Is the Rule GP2 something that has not been released yet?

Another quick question about the FAZ. Would it be a good replacement for the X-Factor (original)?
