Here is the copy and paste from my Obsessed thread...
Well, decided before the state tourney this weekend to fill a few gaps in my arsenal....I punched up Robo Rules #9 and #10! Here is what I already had with pics of the layouts below the descriptions. I wanted something with the pin just above the fingers to help the ball get a few feet further down the lane. Mostly everything else I have is pin below/even with the fingers, around 2-2 3/4 above the midline...so for Robo #9 I decided to leave the factory surface on the ball and place the pin above the ring (about 3 1/4 inches above midline, 5 inches from PAP) with the mass bias swung out 1 3/4 from the VAL. Extra hole int he thumb quadrant on the VAL 2 inches below PAP. I had a Rock On drilled very similar to this (no mass bias on it though) and really like the way this ball handled oil. While it was not the best oil ball, games 2,3 or 2nd shift (which I bowl Saturday at Inter City) it killed....
Robo #10.....I decided to drill like an old Avenger I had. Ball got decent length and had a super move (had a high diff though). Placed the pin 1 1/4 from PAP, 1 3/4 above midline with the mass bias just right of the thumb alomst 5 inches from the VAL. Left the factory surface on. Ball is similar on a fresh shot to another Robo, but there is a difference and I am sure if I hit drier stuff, this one will shine. Did not get to throw it much due to the holiday and stuff, so can't give you a real great feel yet....
#1 Pin 2 inches above midline, 3 1/2 from PAP.....mass bias 3 1/2 from VAL, factory surface
Reaction: By far, the earliest aggressive ball I have in my arsenal. Once the head oil starts to go, this ball has to go back in its bag...onlu usually pull this ball out when nothing else will wrinkle.
#2 Same as #1 but has Delayed Reaction on it
Reaction: Gets a few feet further than #1, more backend due to the polish. Easy switch to ball when #1 goes away....
#3 Pin 1 1/2 above midline, 5 1/4 from PAP, mb 2 1/2 from VAL, factory surface
Reaction: My favorite ball. Strong early reaction (not as much as #1) but gives me more midlane and more continous roll down the lane in my opinion...I can really see this ball charging. Eats up the Scratch league classic shot...probably too much ball for the regular house shots.
#4 same as #3 but with Delayed Reaction
Reaction: A few feet longer and stronger than #3..easy switch to ball when #3 goes away.
#5 Pin 2 above midline, 4 1/2 from PAP, mass bias 6 1/4 from VAL, factory surface
Reaction: the weakest dull ball so far....gives me more length and more lope than #3...get for the house shots as the ball just doesn't overreact at all...great transition ball...when I am going across lanes, I usually try to use this ball as the reaction is more consistant.
#6 same as #5 but with Delayed Reaction
Reaction: Same as #5, but more length and more backend. Easy switch to ball when #5 is too much.
#7 Pin 4 inches above midline, 5 1/4 from PAP, mass bias 5 inches from VAL, factory surface
Reaction: Believe it or not, great ball for dry lanes....WHY? Pin is so far from PAP, Mass bias is away from VAL...pin is WAY up on the drill...but it has enough factory surface to go deep and trudge through anything left but yet get down the lane well enough to be used on drier conditions...just used this ball on lanes that had not been oiled for a WEEK at my home center from inside 4th arrow (nosebleed area for me) and went 200+ for all 5 games.
#8 Pin 2 1/2 inches above midline, 6 inches from PAP, mass bias 5 inches from VAL, Delayed Reaction
Lots of length, little movement down the lane..great bone dry lane ball for me...it was even moving the other day, but was by far the only ball I coulld start to play up the lane instead of swinging it.
(NEW) #9 Pin 3 1/4 above midline, 5 inches from PAP, mass bias 1 3/4 from VAL, factory surface.
Reaction: Ball is long and strong. VERY clean through the heads with more charge on the back than anything else I have. Used this the second day at InterCity and scored well with it when everything else I had was WAY to early or not strong enough...niche ball for me.
(NEW) #10 Pin 1 3/4 above midline, 1 1/4 from PAP, mass bias 5 inches from VAL, factory surface
Reaction: Very strong early in the lane...needs plenty of oil to get down the lane. So strong it can get over under for me once the pattern breaks down...

NOW FOR THE NEW DISCUSSION PORTION....................
I placed the reaction I see from each ball below the layout description....
As for discussion on these....the 3 layouts I have 2 of..one factory surface and one with Delayed..the ONLY reason I do this is if I am locked in on the pocket and just need to get the ball a squirt further down the lane or start a tisker sooner, I DON'T want to change drill pattern, just surface...so I switch to the opposite ball...IF I was not so finicky, I could probably do away with the 3 polished balls, but thats not me....
The ball with the pin way above the fingers-factory surface....it is an aweosme piece for when the lanes dictate..as the other 3 balls are...they are all niche balls for when my main 6 are just not up to snuff. I really try to stick witht he first 6, then break into these if I see something different or whatever the reason may be...
Do I think there is room for me to do this...YES...WHY? When traveling going to tourneys...I want to eliminate one thing....VARIABLES. Thus, why I always take evrything I own...then it NEVER crosses my mind that " I SHOULD have brought this ball or that ball" Because then you are not focusing on bowling...and then by drilling so many of one ball, I also elimate the SURFACE question in my mind...I see people goign through and saying geez, should I throw particle/reactive/pearl....and then saying should the surface be dull/shiny/etc...it elimates one more factor I have to worry about...
Basically, I am trying to make everything affecting my bowling be simple. Make it redundant, robotic answer....and so far, so good.
Like I have mentioned before, I do have 4 more NIB Robos sitting here...I just don't really think I need any more right now, if ever, plus with the new Track stuff coming soon, I have to try it, and I am excited about them (even though I don;t know anything about them...new bowling balls excite me for some strange reason) and we will go from there.
If I was not on staff, I would probably have 6 at the most right now...
