I agree with cnimsk! The Blast is a good smooth reaction ball! You could also look at the Inertia as it could work with the right Drill pattern!

I have to go with the Heat Blast as well. It is not nearly as "jumpy" as the Equation....I really prefer to use smoother reacting balls as a benchmark ball.

Out of the current lineup I agree with the Heat Blast.  Although I would have to agree with FBM's comment about the slash as well.  Ball is so verstable that it can be made to do anything.

Silly Question:

What is a benchmark ball? A bal to "read" the oil with or what? (to know the oiling pattern...roughly)...

If I am right.. no ansers... ignore my message... if I am wrong... correct me

I would also have to say either a Heat Blast or Inertia.

A benchmark ball is your most medium ball. When you are bowling on a completely unknown oil pattern, you use it to tell you exactly what the situation is and what ball will work best on that condition. Usually is it a solid resin, with medium flare and medium length and fairly smooth cover. The cover can be polished or dull depending on your ball speed, revs and overall release. It might even be a medium reaction pearl or particle but that is unusual. It should be, for you, a ball with medium length, with medium overall hook and medium backend. AGain its purpose is to tell you what is the best ball for the condition and where to play it, within the scope of your own knowledge of your arsenal.

The ball will NEVER be a skid/flip pearl or a heavy oil ball. It is, under normal circumstances, NOT the ball you use in your everyday leagues.
