best ball for a low rev guy
« on: January 16, 2006, 07:35:04 AM »
I'm posting in here as it was suggested that I would get a better reponse.  I am a low rev guy that currently is thowing a hammer hawg at about 17mh.  I've only been bowling for about a year and now have a 195 avg.. as of late I'm having some real issues leaving 8-10 splits when i hit the pocket.  It's been killing me.  I throw straight down the 7 board and play on a house shot that is synthetic and well oiled...any suggestions for a ball?

Ok....
#1... My PAP is 9

#2,,,not sure

#3... I have 2 balls.  My 15# Hammer Hawg that is killing me.  I played tonight and had a bunch of pocket splits. 5-10, 8-10...and your right...it's not finishing. I actually watched it straighten out right before the pocket.  I also have a Hammer Sharp Blade 16#'s...which I think I'm going back too until I find something new....it seemed better to me then my Hawg. Both balls are drilled with the pin right next to the ring finger...right hand.  Both pins are 1"...why....I'm not sure....but that's what I got, I think because I didn't know what I needed when i bought the balls....I'm still learning.
Hope that helps...
and really...Thanks for all the help and time replying...maybe it'll just help me straighten this out.

badpoly,

Please try to get the PAP location again....

If the Sharp Blade is working and the Hawg isn't....then a reactive ball is DEFINATELY the answer for you.

Let us know what you find out,

Ok...sorry about the wrong PAP..it came off a sheet I had that had bad info from my drilling.  My PAP is 4.5.
I went to the pro shop today where I had the balled drilled and they watched me throw the ball and got my PAP.  They took some weight out of the thumb hole (drilled a hole near the thumb) to have the Hawg finish stronger and it helped....but still not finishing quite how I would like to see.
Should I still look at the Rule Delta?
TIA

As Ex said before, if the other ball is working for you, then the Hawg is too strong and you need something that will help you get down the lane better. The Hawg is a medium load particle and needs LOTS of oil to work properly...sop as soon as it sniffs dry, it tries to start to roll, which uses up energy and does not save it for the backend.

badpoly,

I DEFINATELY think the Delta 1 would be much better for you on that condition.
