Best ball for Second Shift Leagues

Hi,

The lane conditions where I'm bowling at are killing me! I'm averaging the lowest I've been in years! It seems like I'm making the wrong choices as far as equipment. Lately, I've been using the Angular, Slash , and Delta (a couple of times) and have been throwing it good, but I cant carry consistenly. Sometimes, I get ringing tens, 7-9, 7-10, and 8-10 splits The conditions are kind of spotty due to the league that bowls in front of us. Last night, I got there early enough to watch some frames, and the teams have guys who can hook it, guys who go down and in, and ladies who throw a plastic house ball down the middle of the lane. Also, its an AMF house with synthetic lanes.

How would you combat this, and what are the best choices of equipment?

This is what I have drilled:
Delta (light polish with Magic shine)
Reactive (OOB)
Angular (OOB)
Slash (polished with Black Magic)
Heat (OOB)
Desert Heat (polished with Delayed Reaction)

This is what I have undrilled:
Aggressive
Xception 5.0

PLEASE HELP QUICK!! MY SEASON IS GOING DOWN THE TUBES!!

The Angular should be a good ball for this particular situation, IMO... Another great suggestion would be a Freak-A-Zoid. This is the ball I would choose, personally.

My Angular is drilled with the pin above the ring finger, and the cg kicked out (a 5x3). Now, I'm not a cranker like you, more a tweener, so would the polish suggestion still stand? I'm going to get the 5.0 drilled. It looks like I'm going to have to get deeper and send it out to the dry (around 5-7).

5 ppl use the 5.0 in my league which is second shift. The breakdown in our league is oil in the middle and bone dry outside. If you dont play the right line you will watch your ball slide then jump, slide then jump.

Well, you are sort of getting thinning heads due to the men, and carrydown due to the women. When I see a condition I need to be able to get through the heads and have some move on the backend, you are screaming to me Delta. Why? The Goo LS naturally gets through the heads very easy and has lots of backend. Even in carrydown, the Delta has enough backend for me!

You are absolutely right, Clint. What I'm seeing from my ball is REV.....FLAT. Then I move right, and its nose, and when I think I'm getting in the pocket, it hits soft. I'll try the Delta, and when I see my driller, we'll figure out how to drill the 5.0, in case the lanes get too dry for the Delta.

I called my driller a little while ago, and he told me not to drill the 5.0 right now, that ball is better on clean backends, it wouldn't be good on carrydown. He suggested to me to start the 1st game with the Delta or Reactive, play outside the track area, and make parallel moves to the left if necessary. When the lanes open up, either stay with the Delta or switch to the Angular.  If I have to move in deep, get to the dry quicker to get around the carrydown that the ladies are creating with the plastic.
He agreed that the lanes we have to deal with are a mess after the 1st league.


What do you guys think?
