Strike Machine questions
« on: December 17, 2006, 10:54:59 PM »
I have a chance to pick one of these up in trade, so I'd like to know a bit more about it. I checked the numbers at the Track site, so I know the RG, Diff. and all of that. However, I'd like some first-hand opinions from those who have thrown this one. On what conditions does this ball shine and from what angles of attacK? Comparing the numbers, the ball sort of matches up to the Power Machine, but the covers are different. Is this going to provide a similar ball motion, but at a later point down the lane? Any input you all can offer will be valuable to me. Thanks.

Gene, I got one about two months ago, and although I have only thrown it for a couple of games, I can say this. This ball is a lot longer than I thought it would be. My drilling of pin over ring really does push it down the lane, cg is near the center of the grip and mb is right next to the thumb. I need to take the cover down some to get it to grab a little sooner. Not sure how your trader is drilled, but unless you have a strong drilling, you may have to tweak the cover if it is OOB. It is definitely skid snap with mine.
The hit is good, but the box cover does not seem to like carrydown, at least not at my speed. Definitely need to play with this one a little more. From what I have heard of the Power Machine, the PM must be a stronger ball overall.

Hey Gene, (How are you bud?)

It depends some on the oil density of the lane condition.  The Strike has Nano Thread on it's surface which consists of larger pores compared to standard resins.  If the oil is thick enough for the Nano to skid, you will see a good strong backend reaction but if the density isn't quite thick enough, the ball will look to have more of a arcing motion.  This is why you may hear some variances in feedback about the ball.  Hope this helps some....
