need some advice with my Robo
« on: September 25, 2008, 08:03:52 AM »
the ball is drilled Pin und ring with the BC "kicked" right.
surface is treated with a red scotchbright pad to increase oil eater capabilities but now the ball is not doing the job

Compared to my Machine it is stronger... but...
It is smooth to the max... not much stronger but has almost no noticeable backend..
That causes a problem: send it out too far and it won't make it on the backend
tug it in and you have nice strong hook but weak hit...

Is the ball "used up" ?

After all I am the 4th user...
I did my best to deoil the ball and refresh the surface.
At the 2000 as I got it the ball was as strong as my MAchine but smoother... now that does not help me.

get it at 1000?
1500?
800?

Redrilling is not an option... the big bad thumbfillings will by right on my track and I don't want that.

I will try 1000 and see how it rolls but right now the ball is not offering my the hook and backend I need to be played on the oilier lanes where my Machine skids too much.

Scoot will send me a Mean Machine asap (you promised ) but the Robo seems to be a nice ball and I won't and don't want to give it up so fast...

any suggestions?

I think oob is 800 grit so a red pad would tame it down a whole bunch unless you are playing in the soup.try to bring it up to 2000 A. that's where I liked mine and it still needed plenty of oil.the robo was the smoothest of the bunch IMO.I had all of them at one time.robo,mean,machine,power.

had the ball at 2000 (+polish) and was not stronger as my MAchine... and that was not what I wanted.

But I don't know how much polish was on the 2000... will give it a try.

Thanks!

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

well I have seen solid particles show a good backend... but you're right.
Guess I was really expecting too much.

I will try around. Just getting some oppinions.

Solid particle can backend you just need the oil to do it. Or the hand to force it to do it when there isnt the oil to use the ball.  The best all around surface for my robo was 400 (burgandy scotch bright) and then by hand going over it with a damp 2000 abralon pad.

I did a run with my own "polish" thaqt leaces a nice dull finish which is around 1000

will try the ball with that and then work my way up with polish.
