Hi!
I got my Machine drilled today. Not by PAP ... driller "refused" (cause ... see later... there was not much room for layout)... whatever... I wanted the ball drilled stronger than my Tsunami still compareable so it was just a matter of shifting the Pin a bit and shifting the MB a bit... rymacatthedisco will know what I mean
So why this wish-wash layout? Cause it was the only one possible without using a "mucho macho" weight hole; the pin and MB position with the CG position was the only way to get away with at least a small weighthole and still it is too big imho... well still wish-wash

Did I get what I wanted... not quite. Why... cause I did alter my Tsunami which is a "solid" reactive and the Machine OOB is not as tacky and more slippery... by feeling. Drilling of the Machine is stronger but the Tsunami is still stronger. I wanted to have the Machine stronger as my Tsunami so I placed the MB stronger but the shifted Pin got me more lenght than I needed... with the OOB finish
The Machine skidded when my Tsunami hooked but has more backend (0.5" higher pin and ~0.25" longer pin-pap and the MB 1" more to the right - I know this is not quite what some want... but atm it is enough for me)- keep in mind my Tsunami is at 800-polished (~1000-1200 approx... I just altered the surface till the ball was pleasing me)
So my "review" of the Machine:
!!! this is a first impression after just 6 games OOB !!!
Lanes were fresh oiled THS, a tad broader with OOB but strong backends! so when the strong midlane read of the Tsunami gave me room for error the Machine was finicky - not forgiving anything... a slightly weak hit left a single pin... a slight high hit the 4-6-7... well I have to admit I am not the best bowler out there.
But what I have to admit once I really reved it up and played deeper relying on the backend the ball shined! hit'n'carry was good
The ball showed a smooth transition off the dry without overreacting but often missed right shots were out deadly ... but this is a, user fault and b, oil pattern! This pattern is hard! My Tsunami gives me more room to the right as it hooks more early smoother than my Machine... but not to the left
... so best would be a combination of Tsunami for missed right and Machine for missed left
(the problem is to know before going up the lane where I miss
)
So far I am pleased with the Machine it is longer and stronger of the dry as my Tsunami. Yet I feel it is too weak for fresh lanes here but as the lanes break down very fast I think after the first game I can use this ball for sure.
So after all a question is there:
Should and CAN(??) I dull my Machine to 1000 as I did with my Tsunami cause then I guess the Machine will 4 sure be stronger or keep it OOB as with the actual layout the Ball is smooth off the dry but goin' long... but backend is more when my Tsunami is weaker.
So what is your advice ybout altering the surface... I have only a gray pad here that is 800 (by #) but I can slowly polish the ball back up to get a finer grid.
Is the Machine taking surface altering or is this ball finicky about this?
