You should, listen to your body. My family doctor, without doing an MRI, said it was tendonitis, rest it for 3-4 weeks, and prescribed me pretasone (sp) its a form of steroids, which is supposed to clean out the tendonitis...well..I took the entire prescription, I felt decent, went out to throw a ball, and the pain was back like never before. I said enough of this and found the closest sports medicine doc, had an appointment, said we need to do an MRI, the next week I was back for the MRI, later that week they revealed the injury...mind you, I did this on Friday, Oct 6th......I went to the hospital, then the emergency room, then my family doc TWICE...by the time I saw the Sports med doc, it was the day before Thanksgiving, the MRI was the following Tuesday, and they called me Thursday with the results...I lost almost 2 months of time of thinking I was ok, when I was not, because I did not go to a Sports med doc or request an MRI....
If you have an MRI, at least you will KNOW if you tore anything or NOT....its your BEST option...
