Mean Machine - now I know
« on: February 16, 2007, 09:06:45 AM »
Finally got my MM to show the big backend that everyone has said they have
While I've had decent luck with it oob and also scuffed with a green s/b, including lots of low 200s and tieing my personal high of 279, it never seemed to recover like I thought it should, forcing me to play tighter than I normally like, and making it my #2 ball.  Well, I took the surface to appx. 800-1000, then shined the heck out of it by hand with Brunswick Hi-Gloss Polish (gritless), and wow, now it still handles our oil nicely, I can swing it pretty good, and it just comes flying back.  Definitely more of what I was expecting when I ordered this ball.  So, If you are not quite satisfied with your MM, give this a try.  You may be as surprised as I was.

Good going duvallite.  Glad to see your opened minded enough to play with the cover.  It's usually my last words to a customer when they leave the shop with a new piece, nothing is written in stone about a ball.  We can adjust covers or weight holes and make a ball react the way we want it too.

Has anyone else tried to shine the MM up? Mine handles oil well, except for a flood.
