Rule - Must Have?
« on: July 01, 2005, 04:12:26 AM »
If I'm only going to buy 1 more bowling ball this year, should I make it the Rule?

This ball has been discontinued?

Though not as long in production or widely used as the OI, is the Rule a ball I should feel compelled to pickup before it is no longer easily available?  As many people seemed to be doing with the OI when it went out of production?

boondoggle,

It really depends what kind of condition you want to use the Rule on and the type of reaction you are looking to get out of it.

Let us know and we may be able to be of more help to you.

The Rule is a very good ball, but if you try to use it on conditions it is not meant for the ball would be a waste.

I'd use it for what it was intended, which is longer medium to heavy patterns, I believe.

I've got a full arsenal already, so this isn't a case of trying to feel a need, or a case of trying to make the Rule my everyday bowling ball.

I was just wondering if this is a "Must Have" ball that should be picked up before it becomes scarce.  Even if it is just to sit NIB until the slot in my arsenal that it should fill in my arsenal opens up.

Hey boon,

If you currently have a complete arsenal, I'd say the Rule would make a good tournament ball or give it a reaction that is different from what you currently have.  It helped me open up a lot of shots and offers me a different look when I need.

I have to echo what Rick said. The Rule is a must have ball, it offers a unique reaction....the Goo reactive is different. I have had similiar reactions to my Rules, but not quite the same. If you can get one, grab it!

The original Rule is a must have if you like the origial Goo cover. Ball is great for mediums and medium heavy conditions...cover changes very easy as well.

I have a lightly polished Rule and it was great for most of the season in one of my tougher leagues where they were laying down a 39 foot pattern (triple oiled, double buffed). I was also able to get a good look in a couple of tournaments with this ball, especially if the heads had a little more head oil than usual and the back ends were playing tighter, I found this ball would be the best fit for that need in my bag. On most house shots, you can have a couple of options depending on your preference of release and ball speed- as I could play outside the top hat with more of a low and long, higher speed delivery or play inside the oil to outside with more side rotation and slower ball speed to still get the ball to the pocket.

I would say in my area it was the number 1 ball from Track saleswise for a good 4-6 months...so I would say pick one up if you can.
