Layout a Rising for me
« on: November 11, 2007, 02:00:38 PM »
Hey guys/gals, I have a Rising sitting around that it just itching to be drilled up.

Currently I have the suggested layout(my oil ball), and I have a pin above the bridge layout which has quickly become one of my favorite balls(300 with it Saturday).

I am going to leave this up for a couple of days and see what most of you think. The idea behind this is for me to try a layout on the ball that you are most curious about being on a Rising.

Please be specific in your suggestion....meaning pin to PAP, mb to PAP etc....or a particular degree layout.

Thanks,
Carl

How about 4 1/2 pin to pap and the mb in the 1-30 to 2-00 oclock position, i am curious to see how much it flares and if it still backends or not???

         cg

      p

Carl

Yes I was referring to pin x MB that is the standard I always use even if it is on a non MB ball where I am using the virtual MB by measuring 6.75" from the pin through the CG.
Sorry for the lack of clarification.

You could easily flip a zone around and achieve the same thing.

Carl,

Personally i would like to see a trick layout for this ball. I am curious too if the trick layouts will be general or like Ebonite's, come from a specific player. If you cannot do this i would like to see a 5x5(pin,mb) layout with the surface at 2000. This is how my favorite ball is layed out. Ofcourse it is a POWER Machine... I messaged you with this same question over in the Track website. Thanks

What are you looking for with your rising? I have drilled several from the 180 deg flip to the trick layouts. You need to figure out what you need in the arsenal and match the drill to it. I used a 6 by 2 with the pin on the vertical axis line for the first 4 games on Thursday morning then made a move left with a Kinetic drilled 5 by 4 above middle finger with a 27 hole 3" deep at 4 inches over. In the Afternoon I used a Rising drilled 6 by 1 pin left of middle finger most of the block.

You can make a rising flare very little to a LOT depending on the pattern. I use 6 by 1 or 6 1/2 by 2 in the early games for low flare and smooth transition off the dry then transition to a 7 by 4 later for more flare and backend to open up the lane.

Pin 4 1/2 to PAP and 3 3/4 above mid line, and MB 5 1/4 from PAP.

Lets see if that thing will flip over hard. Make sure you get plenty of finger in it and come around that thang!

My driller drilled one with the MB in the opposite direction. In other words rather than the MB down in the thumb Quadrant area, he drilled it 6 3/4" in the opposite direction back behind fingers on the right side of the ball. The ball rolled over the MF and thumb holes when he threw it, so he plugged and redrilled it similar but with the MB on the other side of ball above and on the MF side. That stopped it from rolling over the holes. He was trying it when I left last Thursday. Ball entered pocket pretty good, but seemed to lack the "pop" on the backend. He had the ball sanded to 4000 Grit with an Abralon Pad.

There's polish...then there's the Vern Shine.  Done exclusively by the LustreVern357.  You've never seen shine until you've had a ball finished by The LustreVern357!

I dont know I have been told I can get a ball to shine. I have been told that it looks like the ball is covered by water after I shine a ball.
