build a three ball arsenal for me!
« on: January 04, 2006, 11:17:58 PM »
please help! i haven't had a track ball since the original stomp, i've been using storm and hammer the last few years. i generally like to play down and in, but i can cover boards also. my specs are in my profile and i bowl at two centers, one gauardian overlay, one wood. also do tournaments throughout the year. we'll start with a 3 ball set then maybe suggestions to fill gaps? thanks for any help. p.s. the arsenal series looks impressive to me!

3 ball arsenal:

Arsenal reactive
Arsenal angular
desert heat

I feel the reactive can handle a good amount of oil in it's box finish and can be used as a heavy oil ball.  I use mine for med oil but have it polished with magic shine.

The angular can be used on light oil if prepped right for your style.  Great ball.  Awesome hit.

Desert heat is a great choice for dry lanes.  This is also a good ball to use on those dry tough shots you may come across.

This to me is a great 3 ball arsenal.  If you wanted to add another ball for heavier oil the aggressive could fit that bill. You could also take another angle for the heavy instead of the aggressive.  The GP2 is THE heavy oil ball from Track.  Now i'm talking about the current line.  If you shop on e-bay you may be able to pick up an animal.  To me the animal is the best heavy oil ball made.  The only thing to that is you have to dull it down for the soup.

I hope this helps bud!

thanks for the help guys! in your opinion, how do track balls roll compared to storm? i generally get good length and good backend with storm balls. i don't roll brunswick, particularly the inferno series very well. they seem to be too rolly up front with marginal backend, even with high pins. what do you think? does track seem to match up with a particular style of bowler in general?

From what I have seen, we roll quicker than Storm, but later than Brunswick. I have not thrown either in 4 years, and I have NOT SOLD a single Storm ball this year and less than 5 Brunswicks....so I don't 100% know for sure now, but I am confident I am very close.

stopncrank,

Let me ask you a question.....do you want your ball for heavy oil to be stronger than your desiel or about the same?

as far as the diesel goes, i would say about the same, maybe a little less overall hook, alittle more backend. i'm having to rep;ace the diesel, just too many games on it and it's just wore out! basically i'm guess what i'm getting at is will i have to drill track equipment a litte tamer as opposed to storm and hammer? for instance on med to med dry i have a storm recharge. pin is above bridge, cg kicked out about 1.5 inches. gives me good length on broke down and shorter length patterns, and a strong continuous backend. what do you think?

If you want a little more length and more backend for your heavier oil ball I would set up my arsenal like this:

Heavy: Rule Delta 1

Med: Xception 5.0

Light: Solution PP EX

As for Track equipment vs Storm and Hammer........I wouldn't base it on company....I would base each ball's layout for what you want that ball to do.

Personally, I hated the Delta and I'm not fond of the X 5.0 either. The PP EX seems like a nice choice, though...

The thing that's getting me is that you can get the Arsenal Reactive, Freak-A-Zoid and Heat or PP EX as an AMAZING 3-ball arsenal and spend a TON less money than you would by wasting your dough on a Delta and a 5.0. Plus I think the AR and the FAZ are much better balls (for me, anyway). Just my opinion.

I will definatly agree that there are some real great balls for a lot less money than the top of the line asymmetrical balls.  I feel the arsenal line is the best line Track has right now.
