building a TRACK arsenal
« on: July 04, 2006, 06:59:28 AM »
hey everyone, I have been lurking here for awhile and finally have decided to make myself known.  A little about me.  I have a 185 average.   I guess that you could call me somewhat of a tweener style.  I throw around 15 mph.  I don't know what all the meanings are on a bowling ball, pin, mass biases, etc..  I am looking to build a track mini arsenal.  what would be a good three or four ball pickup to cover the ranges of oil(heavy, med, light) I have been throwing storm but want to start the new league out differently.  After lurking here for awhile, The track forum is without a doubt the most informative and  polite and helpful.  So that is what I decided to change to.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks and have a Happy 4th of July

Welcome first of all. Secondly....a three of four ball arsenal from Track. My suggestions are:

Robo Rule or Mean Machine for Heavy Oil
Arsenal Artillery for medium, possibly the new Equation. Or if you can find one, an Exception.
Desert Heat for light.
Flaming T for spare ball.

Now...if you can, get a Machine for the Medium/Heavy area. It's just a great ball. If you can find one, a Solution PPX would be a good fit between the Artillery and Desert Heat.

I assume you already have a spare ball so I will leave that out.

3 ball
Robo (solid particle) - Heavy
Heat Blast (even rolling solid) - Mediums/Benchmark
Solution PP Ex (weaker pearl) - Lighter

Gap fillers if desired later on:
Machine (particle pearl)
Artillery or Equation (stronger pearl)

Just my .02

Welcome to the LEGION

It is very difficult to give suggestions without knowing specifics about your style and your game.

Generically speaking this is how I would set up a 4 ball arsenal....NOT including a spare ball

Heavy Oil- I would start with the Mean Machine. I think this ball is going to fit this slot for MOST bowlers.

Med/Heavy Oil- The Machine fits perfectly here. It will handle a decent amount of oil...anything between medium and heavy this ball is perfect.

Med Oil- The Arsenal Artillery OR the Equation here. The Artillery is stronger. The Equation would give you a bit more seperation from the Machine. BOTH of them fit here though.

Light Oil- Desert Heat. This is the best ball for light oil on the market.

Something I want to add.....be sure to have the equipment laid out accordingly for the lane condition you intend to use it for.

You may want to post what equipment you have right now...what condition you are using a given ball on. This would help us give you more concrete suggestions.

Goodluck,
Carl

3 Ball arsenal

#1

Robo
Blast
Desert

#2

Mean Machine
Blast
Desert

I know, some gaps, but nowadays with just 3 balls...it can be tough.

Hey KRENLW, (Welcome to the Track Forum)

Generically speaking without knowing your game better, I'd suggest the following.

Heavy - Mean Machine
Med/Med - Machine/Inertia
Med - Heat Blast/Equation
Med Dry - Solution EX/Desert Heat

A few questions for you that will help in our assessment..

1)what ball do you use now
2)on what condition (heavy, med..etc)
3)how much can you hook this ball

This will at least give us some kind of idea what your overall speed to rev ratio looks like by your replies, thanks.

Thanks for all the answers.  Here is the questions that tenpinspro asked.

1)what ball do you use now
Right now I am using a Brunswick Rampage for my med. cond.  a Storm Hot Rod Hybrid for my Light cond.  I don't have a heavy oil ball as of yet.

2)on what condition (heavy, med..etc)
The main condition at the alleys I use is basically a medium to medium light.

3)how much can you hook this ball
My Ideal shot is to play over fourth arrow and swing it out to the first arrow and back in.  I can play deeper if need be, just kind of lose the comfort zone.  Hopefully this helps a little.

Also, if you could suggest a drilling on some of the suggestions with the info you have of me, that would be great.  Thanks

just commenting the third question..

is this on sport or house. im assuming house because if you were to throw it like that on sport shot, your as$ would be dead in water.
