Curious about Coverstocks
« on: October 18, 2005, 04:07:23 AM »
I know the powerplus coverstock has been around for quite some time. Is this the same as columbia's superflex? What is the columbia equivalent to the EX coverstock? What are the differences between the GOO and the PowerPack?

I know that some of these might not be answered, since these coverstocks seem to be ball specific, but I was curious.

Djarum-

Just from initial use of my Arsenal Reactive, I think Power Pack gets through the heads, especially broken-down heads, slightly better than the original GOO.  I haven't thrown my Rule and AR side-by-side yet, but I would say from experience that Power Pack is not quite as aggressive off of dry as GOO.

Now, this isn't to say that the AR gets through broken-down heads better than the Rule...the AR has a lower RG than the Rule, and that would make the cover want to pick up earlier than the Rule's cover and RG would.  I just feel that Power Pack is somewhat similar to the original GOO...like a weaker version of it.

Sorry for the somewhat rambling response...this is something I've been thinking about for the past few days and I wanted to address it when I first saw it asked.

From what I have seen, I would agree with Jeff on his view on the Goo vs PowerPack covers.

I do not know what Columbia covers= Track covers, if any. They may be close but tweaked....they may not be close at all.
