Burst vs 607A

Pretty close, I would give the nod to the 607A in terms of strength by a board or two, but the Burst is much more controllable at the breakpoint. Personally, I prefer the Burst unless I'm bowling on a surface where I need to create friction.

How would the Burst be as a step down from the 505T? I personally am not all that crazy about the 607A. Its a good ball but I cant not find a nice "comfort" zone with it for me like I have with the 505T and 715T. Under my 607A I have a Roto Dark Star that I love when the heads start getting a bit fried. So I want something in between 505T and Dark Star

On every condition I've used it my 505T has been stronger than my 607A in terms of total boards covered. Whereas, the Burst and 607A are relatively the same ball in terms of total hook, but they hook at different points on the lane. Also, the Burst is much more controllable at the spot than the 607A.

If you need a better source on the relative strength of these balls, BTM ranks them as:
Darkstar    44
Burst       47
607A        48
505T        50

In terms of a ball between a 505T and a Dark Star I would probably go with one of these:
715C (my choice, this ball is amazing)
Tropical Heat Hybrid
Riot (if you like your dark star)
Midnight Vibe (because everyone should have one)

I'm with Mr. Perfect 715C is my benchmark medium ball at total hook of 47 in BTM.  But it depends on your stats/technique and lane conditions.  One of the reasons I use the 920T as my heavy oil ball is the ability to stay straighter thru the front and not open up the angle to much which for me is a harder trajectory to hit and not as much miss room to the right on flatter conditions.  I use the pin down shined 916AT as the heads break down and the lane transitions.  Just the way I do it.

My Track line up is:

Heavy 920T 55* 4" 45* X hole at P2 pin next to ring 2000 abralon
Heavy-Medium 916AT 55* 5" 55* no X hole yet pin under bridge 2000 abralon with FF polish over
Medium 715C 55* 5" 40* pin slightly above and right of pin no X hole 4000 abralon
Medium-Light 505A 63* 6" 50* pin above middle no X hole 2000 abralon w/ slight FF polish for light shine

Me: 62 yr. old RH
17.5 in heads and 15 at deck
17* tilt 11" track dia.
300-325
45*-60* axis rotation
Pap 5" over and 0

So the burst should clear the heads better than the 505t and get down the lane farther than the 607?
For me the 607 isnt long enough and too quick off the spot if that makes sense

No, it should almost be a carbon copy of the Burst just more jerky at the spot. Both balls are longer than the 505T, but as I said previously, they are both weaker than the 505T in terms of total hook...at the spot though, the Burst and the 607A cover far more boards than the 505T.

I would suggest running the ball through the surface progression again and see if perhaps it was a bad sanding job. I do the 6 sided method and run the ball through the 500, 1000, 2000, and 2000 progression hitting the ball for 30 seconds on each segment before hitting the next side. Also, my key is that I use Storm Reacta Shine. For some reason in my area it has been my experience that the Ebonite polishes tend to shine the ball but don''t actually help the ball get down lane.
