Need some arsenal help

My main THS arsenal is UpRising (pin under bridge, 4 1/4 x 3 1/4), Kinetic Energy (pin under ring, 4 x 3 1/4) and Kinetic (pin above bridge, 5 x 3).  Between my slower speed (15 - 15.5 mph 300-325 rpms) and the lack of oil at the centers I bowl in the Kinetic is the only ball that ever sees any lane play (although I did just bowl in a 40 frame game using the UpRising and Kinetic Energy and placed 5th in my division (KE is great drop-down from the UR) in the 4 month long tournament).

With my style I am always the first one to be at 4th arrow and before the night is over I am usually targeting 5th arrow to get the ball down the lane.  Most of the others with more ball speed are still around 2nd - 3rd arrow.

I was thinking of a Tantrum with a high pin and changing the cover to 4000.  Any thoughts about going to the Tantrum after the Kinetic is getting me too deep?  Any other suggestions? What do others use for when when the lanes really start to dry out?

tantrum i think would be VERY good for that time, another thing u could try to weaken it out is maybe keep it pin under, but go farther from PAP just to keep it from snapping too hard.

Your number are pretty similar to mine in terms of ball speed and rev rate. I might be in the 16-16.05 and 350 range but I have the same issues with moving left a little quicker than most. I would maybe suggest a Kinetic Pearl with a control type layout. Maybe a 5.5 inch pin from PAP. For me, this layout lets me stay further right than any of my other balls. The Tantrum is a great ball but with how early it rolls, getting inside 4th arrow is not really any option unless the backends are very crisp. My Kinetic Pearl is 65 degree drilling angle, 5.5 inch pin, 65 degree val angle. It is all about control and predictability. I know I have spoken with Carl about this ball prior to drilling and wanted to try a layout like this and this was the ball I thought it would be good on after the talk. Of course, the second you get that drier lane piece in your hands they will start making them tighter! LOL

Thanks for the replies.  I was thinking about the KP but from what I was reading on here it was looking like this ball may be above the Kinetic in terms of hook strength.  I'll give it a try with a 5.5 and 65 degree and let everyone know how it compares to the Kinetic. Thanks again.

IMO, the Kinetic Pearl gives you the same length as the Kinetic with a tamer motion on the backend. I haven't really drilled any super strong yet either but with the control layout, you get control. Most people see pearl and instantly associate it with flip but this ball can give you the control you need. Like Rob said, probably need a little less flare and using a higher rg layout like the 5.5 inch pin, should accomplish that.
I have been on staff for over a year now and even when we had only three balls to play with, don't feel like I ever ran out of lane and needed a true dry lanes ball and this is bowling on some bad surfaces in long formats.

I was working on how I would layout the ball and to get a 5.5 65 degree layout would have the pin about an inch above my bridge and the MB in the thumb everything in a straight line.  I then started to read Mo's Dual Angle article and realized that with this layout my angle to VAL would only be 20 degrees.  According to Mo's article, the smaller the VAL angle, the quicker the ball will respond to friction.  So using both angles I re-did the layout and to get a 5.5 65 degree pin to pap and 45 degree VAL angle, my pin will be in the upper left hand corner of my middle finger and the MB will still be in the thumb.  Sure looks strange.  Hope I'm not drilling all of the motor out of this ball.

I agree with Rob on this. I think the Kinetic Pearl would be a great option as well. This ball allows me to stay in the track area longer than anything else right now.
