After watching strike pass and watching Scroggins throw the ball I don't understand why peopel don't like this guy. Is it because of the way he throws the ball? If that's the case then I wonder if these same people would have critisized Earl Anthoney for throwing the ball slow with a down and in line?

I'm not comparing Scroggins to Earl. What i'm saying is Earl had a nice smooth release and not a ton of revs.

I know this is a little off topic but how come we don't see bowlers play more like Earl Anthoney? He just lets the ball do what it's supposed to. His ball speed and release is just plain smooth.

Well I think that most of the high-rev swingers are scared of him cause they might get their money taken....

. Scroggy is a perfect drawing of what consistency is. I mean when a guy can have the whole lane in the Masters then he's pretty good. Also just because he doesn't swing the ball 40 boards doesn't mean he can't it just means that he prefers to eat people's lunches by showing them that you don't have to throw the ball 18 mph to score.

I consider myself a power tweener. I can rev it up fairly good. However i'm practicing the lower rev smooth release and try to get better at the down and in line. The low rev release when it's on just can't be beat on tough patterns. We have seen this over the years. Look at Earl Anthoney, Walter Ray, Norm Duke ect... these guys have crushed many patterns with a lower rev release.

It just baffels me that more players wouldn't want to learn a style that just puts up huge numbers on every type of condition.

With my higher rev release there are patterns that are difficult for me. With the low rev more direct approach it can be used on all patterns to score well with.

I'm personally impressed by this style of play. I can't wait until I get much better at playing this way.

Why don't people want to throw the ball like Scroggins, when it's clearly working so well for him? It could have something to do with the fact that every time he makes the show, people here rag on him for throwing a robo-fluffer ball with bug-eyes. And don't get me started on what we said about Rick Lawrence last year.

If I were new to the sport, I wouldn't want to bowl like the guy everyone makes fun of, no matter how well he does in tournaments. When we respect the games of down-and-in fluffers as much as crankers like Robert Smith, then maybe we'll see new bowlers wanting to bowl like that.

I really dont like him because he is left handed. I hate all leftys for this because most of the time that gives them one up on me before we step onto the lanes. (most of the people I bowled with in my life are left handed. This was just a joke to get everyone off of the anger horse about why we people dont like him.)Have fun

I wonder how many people actually respect Robert Smith's game or just envy his power and revs. In fact, if anything most bowling people constantly wonder why Smith hasn't won more tournamnets. Americans are famous for reverencing muscles but not a balanced body.

I respect Scroggins game infinitely more tham Smith's, but that's me.

I believe the reason that people knock Scoggins' game is because it is so simple. He definately does not rev it up like many pros do. He does not cover a ton of boards.

I like watching bowling no matter who is on the telecast any given week. Scroggins has been there alot this season, so his "boring" style is more than getting the job done. How many times have we seen PDW on TV this year?

He has a basic game. Keeping the game simple is sometimes the best way to go, there are fewer things that can go wrong.

Knock him if you want, but Scroggins is the best on tour right now....money, and numbers say so.

Scroggins seems to be a humble, classy guy who has been very successful on tour this year, but seems to have trouble with his ball reaction on the telecasts, as he said so last week. That, plus the fact that he's throwing Track, and, I kinda like the guy. I remember bowling in a classics league a few years back and I threw one thru the nose and carried the strike and just kind of looked down the lane in disbelief. An older guy who had been in that league for a lot of years looked at me and said... "This ain't figure skatin', young man, there are no judges, sit down!!!" Ain't that the truth!?!?!

I like watching Scroggins. He seems like an ordinary guy who is genuinely nice and he uses Track equipment

I have been practicing this year on developing a softer release with a lower rev rate. In the past, I have struggled on fresh patterns that are transitioning and on flatter patterns. As Excalibur says simple, basic means that there is less that can go wrong.

The last two nights my softer, lower rev release paid dividends with a 657 in my early league (no opens) where the shot is fresh and the transition makes it difficult to consistently strike. Then last night on my late league, I put up a 725 with a 290 in the second game (10 pin first frame).

Funny, as I was pocketing my winnings, I was not thinking about the fact that my new game was not as "pretty" as my old one
