Delta 1 mini review
« on: September 09, 2005, 10:25:21 PM »
Finally had a chance to try some of the new orbs I just drilled. I had about 10 extra minutes yesterday before league, so I brought down my 5 GP2s and my Delta. Here are the layouts:

1. GP2 #1 favorite drill, pin under ring, cg in palm, mass bias left of thumb, factory surface.
2. GP2 #4 pin under fingers, cg kicked toward PAP, mass bias ending 2 inches from VAL, factory surface, extra hole on PAP
3. DELTA 1! same drill as #1, factory surface.

Started with my favorite drill GP2...ball had a dcent reaction on the Classic league shot for the first time I had been on it in league in 4 months. Played right around 10 straight up....switched to the GP2 with the pin under the fingers, ball went further down the lane and them made an abrupt turn left...I had this layout on a Nighthawk Torque and LOVED it, so I thought I would try it again....and I will be putting the drill on an Animal as well. Honestly, this ball had too much backend for this shot, so I decided to try the Delta. I have not had success on the Classic shot in some time with resin, in fact, probably have to go back to the Ti-Hawk. Played around 10 to get a base compared to my favorite GP2, the Delta went a further down and made a sharper move than my favorite GP2, but not as much as the other new GP2 I just drilled. I decided with only 10 minutes of practice on a few new balls, I would use the Delta to see how it did during the transition period.

During the first game, left s few 10s as the carrydown started, moved 1 board right to accomodate for this with my feet, and I let one go way outside that never had a chance, 210 with 7 strikes-2 opens.

Second game, front 7, stoned 10 (missed it-DUH) and finished with 244 as the right lane started to give me problems, and I had yet to move on the left lane. 8 strikes, 1 open

Third game, right lane continued to confuse me..move in-ball went straight, move out ball never came back...decided to loft a little more by the 9th frame and pounded the pocket as I needed the last 5 to win brackets/eliminator. Got up on the left lane for the first ball in the 10th (had not missed the left lane since 5th frame game 1- and proceeded to stone a 7 pin to lose 236-226...oh well.

680 for the night

Overall, ball handled carrydown very well, only a minor adjustment with my feet was needed to combat this. Ball had exceptional hit all night and kept the pins low.

A tell tale sign of a ball that needs to go back into your bag is when you go 4 pin-10 pin back and forth....too much backend on the ball for the condition, this ball did not do that. I did not leave a single 4 pin all night and only left 3 10s. This ball is very user friendly and from what I saw and the rest of my league saw last night, I will not be the only one with one in my bag.

Thanks!

I have always struggled on 10 pins, with plastic, flattening out my hand, going to a urethane ball....nothing ever changed it...more stupidty on my part than anything.
