Track Heat MiniReview - Vs Slash & Rule Delta 1
« on: October 13, 2005, 06:22:28 PM »
Hey guys & gals,

Decided to do some last minute practicing last night at a center about 3-4 miles away from my house. I wanted to test my New Track Heat and see what it could do!

Lane Characteristics & Oil Pattern:
Lanes: Older AMF Synthetics
Pattern: Leftover shot from league (Medium Oil with semi-burnt out heads with Hang/Out of Bounds outside 5 at the first 30 feet with clean backends and slight carrydown around the track area) *Sorry for the run on sentence hehe*

Balls Used
Track Heat - Track Slash - Track Rule Delta 1
Balls - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/RamtartsBowlingBalls/heattest.jpg
Layouts - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/RamtartsBowlingBalls/heattest2.jpg

Heat Layout = 5.5 x 3 3/4
First of impression of the heat was it cleared the heads very easily. This was good, because after throwing the Slash and Delta, It felt like the heads were worked out in the league before I came in to practice. It was a very even rolling ball with this type of layout. The higher pin position sure did the trick. I did not get an over-aggressive move on the back end, but it was sort of like a mild arc. This ball was easily 2-3 feet later down the lane than the Slash. I am satisfied with the tamer and later reaction of this ball going under my benchmark ball Slash!

Best Line with the Heat = Starting the ball at 13-14 to about 7-8 at the breakpoint. Small swing up the track area!

Slash Layout = 5.5 x 3.25
Compared to the Heat, I had to move left a little more and gave the ball more room at the breakpoint (3 board). I played this line with the Heat and it left washouts. The Slash handled more oil past the heads and recovered from swinging the ball more to the outside. Now I can finally say that the Slash has a little brother in the Heat. The Slash will still serve as my first ball out of the bag!

Best line with the Slash = Starting the ball around 15-16 at the arrows to about 3-4 at the breakpoint. With this ball I could afford to open the shot a little more as compared to the Heat.

Rule Delta 1 Layout = 5.5 x 4 MB
Now with this sucker, I had to move way left. I started the ball around 20-22 at the arrows and had great recovery from anywhere around the 5-8 boards. This ball really opened up the shot. Took the hang spot out of play and I was comfortable swinging it. Compared to the Slash, I moved 10 boards left and stood at the 30 board.

Best Line with the Delta 1 = Inside line at 20-22 at the arrows all the way to about 5-8 at the breakpoint. Great recovery with a strong arc.

My Conclusions: With the OOB present, I put the Delta away so that I could practice with the Heat & Slash around the OOB area. What I liked about the Heat was that it was hand-position friendly. Jonathan Ng (Thanks man) was at the bowl and he told me to try and go up the back of the ball and also try taking some hand out of it. With the heat, I played the line I mentioned above and was getting results stroking it. All of a sudden, I had an epiphany with a decent "B Game" hehe. I really like were the Heat is placed in my lineup. I see separation between my Slash which is good. I will get more games on this ball and update you on its' progress.

Thank to(chappy, ex, clint, chi, D Pat, rock77, Jon Ng, staffers, br members, anyone I missed, etc.) with their recommendations reagarding the Heat and thanks to Rick Leong for punching the ball up as always. Thanks to Jonathan Ng as well!

Hope you guys found this Mini Review helpful.
Best Regards,
Ram

Rock - Heck yes! I am finally starting to see some separation in my arsenal. This was just what I was looking for when the Slash becomes too much to handle!
Yeah, I really wish I had a piece like this earlier in the year (my wallet didn't let that happen though haha). Thanks for the help man.

Clint - No problemo. Anything to help out. I figure if the Staffers are kind enough to post comparisons, why not the fellow Track users as well? Afterall, I think if we all put up a post like this once in awhile, it will give everyone a good idea of what the ball does and where it fits in our lineup.

Nice post Ram. I like the results i saw with your Arsenal last night.
You can really see the separation between each ball which
was great. Now you have one or two balls left to go to complete
your arsenal.

I believe you can use your up the back release as your "B" game.
Keep up the good work bud!

Great review.  I can picture just how your heat rolls as mine has an identical reaction.  I am very impressed on how hard this ball hits.  Unfortunately I do not come across medium light lanes enough to use the ball very often.  When I do I'm like a pig in sh**t.

Kozilla, I might bowl today and try the heat out more. So far, I like the way ball reacts right now. It's just what I needed when the pattern starts breaking down.

Thanks for the mini-review and comparisons Ram. Based on the layout that you have for the Rule Delta 1, do you find that you can use it mostly on heavy and medium-heavy patterns? I was thinking of getting this ball to replace my Rule.
