PEAK Particle Info...
« on: April 20, 2005, 03:18:29 AM »
The Arsenal Particle Series features a brand new particle coverstock, PEAK Particle. PEAK Particle features a new particle for Track. It is a textured platelet shape which will provide more breakpoint angle than the glass bubble particles. The easiest way to describe the shape and texture of the PEAK Particle is that it is a microscopic version of a corn flake. It is a solid particle, so there will be no fracturing like hollow glass balloon particles. The PEAK Particles will provide more traction than standard resin, but less midlane traction than glass balloons, allowing it to conserve more enerygy for the backends. PEAK Particle is a bridge between the reaction of reactive resin and particle resin balls. Because of its solid design, PEAK will have more endurance and experience less wear and tear than hollow particles, producing a reaction that will be more consistent over time.

Now, if you have thrown, or have seen the Arsenal Aggressive Particle or the Arsenal Angular Particle thrown, you know that the above statements are true. The Aggressive backends very well for a dull ball, and the Angular is definately Angular.
SO-----------I am a believer.

Agreed! I would like to see the Peak on a higher Rg core, like the GP2 core.

Clint,

I think that is a great idea.  Hopefully, Track has that idea and will roll out that ball sometime during the fall or next spring.  Maybe, call it the "GP3" or "GP-Max"  Just a thought!!!

Well if they made a GP3 they would need a brand new coverstock.  It's called the Rule GP2 because they use Goo-Particle II on the cover.

D3,

You're right.  I forgot about that!!!  The new ball name would either have to be based on the current Arsenal name, or something total new.  Maybe they should call it "Ultra Arsenal" or "Mega Arsenal"

Any other names???

X,

Thanks for the info. I am a bit of a chemical nerd and have worked with both glass beads and Peek(?spelling) particles. The wear properties of peek are awesome. I find it funny though as glass beads can be both hollow and solid and both have been utilized to fill coverstock resins. The info stated kind of reminds me of the data provided when Track put Mica in the coverstocks for a while in the 90's. (again corn flake shaped materials, but they lacked the abrasion resistance of PEEK)I guess I don't understand why this filler changes the hook shape unless it lays down a bit flatter thus leaving less of a textured imprint on the oil (more coefficient of friction than standard resin but less than a more textured or larger particle)Again all information is appreciated as I love technology and like hearing when new stuff is used. Now if we could only push harder to work on lane surfaces.

Ex, I am also a beleiver...

I punched up an Angular today and WOW. This ball is hard at the breakpoint but yet very smooth. I drilled mine stacked leverage and this ball came back from wherever I put it. I was able to play in the oil between 15-20 and even got as deep as playing out over 15 to 5 and the ball revved up nicely and roared back! I am very impressed with this ball!!

I just close my eyes and throw the ball
